Availability

I use a bicycle as my primary form of transportation, so scheduling will depend highly on the time it takes to commute from my apartment to your home. The closer you and your pets are to midtown Kingston (and Foxhall Avenue in particular) the more options I can provide! I can generally walk dogs in the mornings, afternoons, and evenings, and can stay with your pet full-time on days I am not at work. I usually work in uptown Kingston Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday 9am-4pm, but I may be able to adjust my schedule depending on you and your pet's needs.

Safety, trust & environment

I can meet your dog at your house and care for them in their home environment, or take them on walks or to dog parks for socialization. Depending on your dog's specific needs, I can spend our time together on short walks and gentle playtime, or on more rigorous runs and hikes. My apartment is sadly too small to house any animals at the moment, but I am saving up to move to an apartment with a fenced yard in order to foster and board animals.

Information Katherine H. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your dog has any special needs that I can account for. I accept all types of animals and will make any accommodations within my power, including behavioral and environmental adjustments to make your pet as comfortable as possible.

A typical day

My favorite thing to do with the pets I watch is to play with their favorite toys in their home environment. I also like to walk through the many micro-parks in the city of Kingston, and spend time at the Kingston Point Dog Park. It is a versatile well-kept park, optimizing safety while keeping a naturalistic feel, and provides great environment for training or light socialization. I also love spending time relaxing and keeping quiet company with low energy and senior dogs, giving as much attention as they could ever want!

Pet care experience

I grew up in a household full of dogs, and have been training dogs for over 10 years. This has included house training, leash training, and therapy dog certification. I also have experience working with special needs and senior dogs, including administering routine medical care. I have taken veterinary classes at SUNY Ulster in the past few years, but have not yet finished my Vet Tech certification. I currently work part-time at a cafe with a flexible schedule. My walking services are ideal for pet parents who work long hours and those with high-energy dogs in need of longer rigorous walks. My pet sitting services are ideal for pet parents living in the city of Kingston who would like to build community with other dog lovers. I am flexible on pricing and open to bartering!

Katherine has sat for and watched Otis on several occasions; she is responsive, easy to communicate with, friendly, warm hearted, gentle with Otis and has a sensitive nature which has made me extremely comfortable and confident. When timing changes have been needed she is always receptive and if there are any time challenges it has been very easy to work through them so all parties are happy. Otis has become found of Katherine and we will continue to work with Katherine and I recommend her wholeheartedly.
