Pet care experience

Lover of big, small, & all animals!

I grew up around dogs, cats, and horses, so caring for animals has always been part of my life. From a young age, I was expected to help take care of them and learn what they needed—whether that was energetic puppies and kittens or older animals who needed a little extra patience and care. Over the years, I’ve had a lot of hands-on experience. I’ve cat sat for cats with disabilities and learned how to adjust care to meet their specific needs. I also volunteered at the Animal Protective League and One of a Kind Pets as a cat cuddler, where I helped socialize shelter cats and build trust with them so they’d be more comfortable around people and ready for adoption. I also spent time walking dogs at the shelter and giving them attention and consistency. While living in Akron, I regularly watched a family’s senior dachshunds—very needy little dogs that required a lot of patience, routine, and love. I’m very comfortable caring for senior pets and understand how important it is to go at their pace and pay attention to the little things. Overall, I’ve always had a genuine love for animals. Caring for them has never felt like a job to me—it’s something I naturally enjoy and take pride in.

Katelynn is super nice! She was great with Bella, and Bella loves her too. You can tell she really loves pets. She’s super organized and prompt and knows this application well because she was able to help me reschedule a couple of times. I will definitely be using Katelynn in the future!

Katie was attentive to our two fur babies! She is our first official pet sitter and we are very pleased! We asked for small extras like getting the mail and watering a couple flower baskets during our vacation…she did that and more! She watered all plants during a heat spell and even brought back our garbage bins! Our normally shy kitty always came over to greet Katie upon her arrival. That made us feel very good! We are appreciative of Katie taking care of our two cats!

Katelyn P. is an incredible human being with one of the biggest hearts of anyone I know. She is kind, outgoing, dependable, and genuinely caring toward both people and animals. As a teacher, she pours so much love and patience into her students, and that same compassion carries over into the way she cares for pets. I’ve known Katie since college, when we met working together at a boutique in downtown Kent, and I knew right away our friendship would last for years. She has watched my cat, Ellie, multiple times and has always been absolutely wonderful with her. Katie is attentive, trustworthy, and makes pets feel safe and loved while their owners are away. Anyone would be lucky to have her care for their pets because she treats every animal like her own.

Calendar and availability

Schedule

I’m a teacher, so my schedule opens up a lot more in the summer, which gives me great flexibility for pet care. During the school year I’m available for evening walks or drop/ check-ins after 4pm Monday through Friday. Saturdays and Sundays can work most parts of the day, as long as I have at least 24 hour notice. In the summer, I have even more availability and can typically do morning, afternoon, or evening visits any day of the week (Sun-Sat), depending on the week. I’m also open to overnight stays when needed. I do have a few pre-planned trips coming up this summer: July 16–27th *I update my schedule daily*

Where your pet will stay

Safety, trust & environment

I live in an apartment, so I’m not able to host pets in my home (no boarding). However, I’m more than happy and fully comfortable caring for pets in your home where they feel safest and most at ease in their own environment. When I’m in a client’s home, I treat it with respect and make sure your pet’s routine is followed as closely as possible—whether that’s feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medication, or just giving them companionship and attention. I always aim to keep things calm, consistent, and stress-free for your pet, especially since being in their own space helps them feel secure.

A typical day

I love making sure pets are not only cared for but also having fun and staying engaged! Depending on your pet’s personality and energy level, I’m happy to do walks, play fetch, interactive toy time, or just spend time giving them attention and affection. For cats, I enjoy using toys to keep them active or just hanging out and giving them the attention they want (on their terms). I also adjust activities based on the pet—whether that’s more play for high-energy animals or slower, gentle time for seniors who just want company. My goal is always to make sure they feel happy, comfortable, and loved while you’re away.

I like to learn as much as I can about your pet ahead of time so I can give them the best care possible. It’s really helpful to know their routine (feeding, walks, sleep), personality, energy level, and how they typically do when you’re away. I also like to know any medical needs, medications, or special instructions, as well as things like triggers, fears, or behaviors to watch for. For dogs, knowing how they are on walks, around other dogs/people, and any training cues they respond to is super helpful. For cats, I like to know their comfort level with people, favorite hiding spots, and how they prefer to interact. The more details you can share, the better I can make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away!
