Availability

Pet care fits naturally into my daily schedule because I am a second-year counselling student with most of my classes held online, allowing me to be home during the day. This flexibility means I am available to provide attentive, consistent care for dogs throughout the day, whether it’s for home stays or scheduled visits. As I work from home, I can focus on creating a calm and reassuring environment for each pet in my care, while fitting my studies around their needs.

Safety, trust & environment

Pet safety is my top priority. My home features a small, securely fenced garden so your dog can enjoy outdoor time safely. In the warmer months, the garden door stays open, allowing free access in and out for enrichment and fresh air. Inside, dogs are welcome on the sofa, so they always have a cozy place to relax. I’m trained in canine behaviour therapy and skilled at reading dog body language. This helps me quickly recognise any signs of stress or discomfort and adjust care routines to suit each dog’s temperament. Dogs in my care receive gentle, positive guidance, and I create a calm, relaxing environment tailored to their needs. To maintain a stress-free space, I currently accept female dogs only, due to my own pug’s territorial marking—not aggression, but he feels more comfortable sharing his home this way.

Information Kate W. would like to know about your pet

I always do a meet and greet before we make the booking official, it’s important that your dog can visit and meet me, my dogs, and my environment so make sure it’s a good fit for everyone. During this time I have a questionnaire we will go through to make sure I have all the important information like their daily routine, medial needs, food restrictions etc.

A typical day

I have the flexibility to set my schedule around the dogs I look after. Each morning, I do the school run—which takes about 30 minutes—so your dog may be home with my own dogs during that brief time, but never left alone for long stretches. The rest of the day is spent mostly at home, so I’m always available to give care, attention, and company. I love getting outdoors and make use of the many local fields, footpaths, and beaches for daily walks and exercise. Whether your dog enjoys leisurely strolls, sniffing adventures, or more energetic walks, I’m happy to tailor our outings to their needs and energy level. My routine keeps dogs engaged, active, and relaxed throughout the day.

Pet care experience

**Fully insured by Protectivity in addition to Rover Guarantee, covering pet injuries and more** ** Enhanced DBS checked for your peace of mind** Animals have always been a big part of my life, and I’ve cared for pets for as long as I can remember. Before having children, I worked at a veterinary clinic, handling everything from clerical tasks to assisting with surgeries, medication administration, and caring for hospitalised animals. I have a Level 4 certificate in canine behaviour therapy, which helps me understand and support different personalities and needs. Previously, I provided home boarding and daycare for up to six dogs at a time through Rover, but now in my smaller home, I welcome one dog at a time to ensure personalised and attentive care. My approach has always been calm, positive, and tailored to each individual dog.

Hector had a wonderful week with Kate and her family as well as her own dogs and a couple of other doggy guests. Booking was easy and Kate was positive, caring and professional. As first time Rover users we were concerned about how Hector would manage while we were away on holiday. However, Kate WhatsApp-ed us messages throughout the week reassuring us of Hector's happiness and care over the week. When we collected him on Sunday he was so pleased to see us, but also a little sad to have left his new friends behind. We will definitely be looking to use Kate again when we need to book a doggy home stay. Thanks so much!
