I’m a PhD student so am free to set my own hours, and am free at night to care for your animals in your home (my current housing does not allow pets that are not already on my lease)

Safety, trust & environment
I will provide whatever level of activity that is typical for your pet--if it is a slow walk a day, or playing frisbee in the park for 30 minutes, I will keep your routine going in your absence! I will keep your pet leashed at at all times when outside a fenced area, and will adhere to whatever extra safety requests you may have. I also walk or jog several miles daily and your dog can join me (for any amount of mileage) if you’d like!
Information Kate P. would like to know about your pet
Please disclose any history of aggression! I no longer accept clients with history of attacks or biting. Let me know if your pet has any special medical needs or behavioral issues--I have experience administering medicine to older or sick animals and working with (and training) more rambunctious or "difficult" pets--just give me a heads up!
A typical day
I love to have fun with animals! Dogs especially require a lot of mental stimulation and I am always happy to play, walk, or jog with them. Socialization with other dogs is important, but I never bring pets to dog parks unless this is a common routine for the animal already, or if the owner requests that I do so. I bring water and basic first aid kit supplies with me wherever I go with your pets!

Pet care experience
I’ve taken care of dogs, cats, and large zoo and farm animals for 10 years. I love taking care of people’s family members in my free time. I have years of work history: dog boarding and training (in shelters and for families), and large animal husbandry work on zoos and farms—your big or excitable dogs will not phase me! I interact with the animals I care for with respect, and I listen to what each animal is telling me through their body language and behavior. I have experience caring for older and sick animals with extensive medical routines as well. I recently farm-sat a property in Colombia with 15 dogs and 3 cats--ranging from newborn puppies, older dogs with medical needs, bully breeds, special needs cats and more--you name it, I've probably seen it and cared for them! If you would like to discuss training while I care for your pets, please reach out! I can work on heeling while walking, recall, not rushing the door when someone comes home, and much more! My training ethos is centered around positive reinforcement, low-stress, and in variety of environments to ensure a happy, confident, and safe pet. *While I do have lots of experience with reactive or tempermental animals, I no longer accept jobs with animals with history of attacks/biting. Occasional housesitting or daily drop-ins are typically not enough to establish the trust and relationships that these animals need. And my goal is to always provide a healthy, stress free environment and safe dynamic. **For privacy reasons I do not do housesitting in homes with cameras INSIDE the bedrooms of the house. Of course external security cameras are fine, as well as cameras inside living areas/kitchens, just please let me know! :) Please reach out if you’d like references or contacts not listed on Rover.
Reviews
Kate was fantastic!! Awesome!! We could go on! Our girls loved hanging out with her for 5 days. Kate took such good care of them; I don’t think they missed us! Our older one requires a regimen at meal time and our little one a lap to sit on. Kate checked both boxes and then some. Kate took care of our plants as well as our pups! We were really at ease and could enjoy our trip without worrying. We looked forward to the daily updates and photos. We truly cannot say enough and know who we will schedule the next time around. Cheers to Kate! Zoe, Ouisie and Family

This is the second time I’ve had Kate pet-sit my dog Lenny at my house, and once again, she was fantastic. She kept me updated throughout with regular pictures, so I never had to worry about him. I knew he was in great hands. I’d absolutely recommend her and will definitely use her again. She also kept my house spotless, so I had nothing to stress about when I returned.

Kate was wonderful with our old dog. He has arthritis and is on multiple medications, plus his walks are more very slow meanders while he sniffs things. She took great care of him and sent us many pictures of our happy boy. She also collected packages for us and took out the garbage. She was super friendly and great to work with. Our dog even wandered into the guest bedroom several times the day after we returned home looking for her. I would recommend her to anyone who wants a house and pet sitter.

Oh, yes, Kate is a keeper! We asked our pooches and they agree: Responsible and communicative ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Caring ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Capable and experienced ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Follows all instructions regarding meds, exercise, quirks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Takes good care of house ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and so forth!
