I am not currently able to care for your animals in my own home, but I am happy to come to your home for drop-ins, walks, and house sitting.

Information Kate D. would like to know about your pet

You know your dog and their needs better than anyone else, so I ask that you tell me everything you feel is important for me to know when I’m caring for them. I like to ask a lot of questions about every animal I care for because that the more I know, the better I’m able to ensure that they are healthy, safe, and happy while they’re with me. A few questions I like to ask include: Does your dog have any fears or things that cause them anxiety? What are their favorite activities? What is their walking style, and how do they react & interact with other animals or people on walks? What are some important words/commands you use with them? Do they have any allergies or sensitivities to anything? How will they react when I enter your home?

A typical day

We can walk around your neighborhood or visit a local park or trail. Drop-in visits are really up to you so we can do whatever your dog(s) want — fetch, playing with their favorite toys, brain games/puzzles, or just a bunch of cuddles & quality time!

Pet care experience

Hello! I’m Kate, a life-long animal lover and pet sitter/dog walker. I’ve spent most of my life around animals and they’ve always had a very special place in my heart. I began walking and looking after cats, dogs, birds, hamsters, mice, etc. at a young age and continued to care for neighbors’, friends’, and family’s animals regularly throughout high school and college. I absolutely loved it and dedicated my time to learning more about animal care through research, reading, and eventually working with several dog trainers who helped me focus on basic obedience and behavior modification. I’ve also had the privilege of volunteering at the Oregon Humane Society and SafeHaven Humane Society. I was lucky enough to have an almost 12 year-old German Shepherd mix whom I adopted, raised, and trained along with the guidance of some talented professionals. He was a loyal, goofy, energetic pup who was the best friend and greatest teacher I could ask for. I recently lost him after a short battle with cancer and aim to honor his memory while I care for others’ four-legged family members. My priority is to ensure that both you and your animals feel comfortable and safe with me and that I know exactly what is needed and expected from me. I understand how nerve-wracking it can be to leave such an important family member with someone new, but I want you to be able to enjoy your time away and trust that they are being loved and cared for as if they were my own. I have experience with and am comfortable caring for all sizes, ages, and breeds. I also have a lot of experience with dogs with anxiety/nervousness, mild to moderate reactivity, pulling, lunging, barking, etc. I certainly don’t expect them to be perfect! Thank you for reading my bio and considering me to care for your animals! It is a huge privilege to be trusted with such an important job and I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your furry family. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask.

Kate is so amazing with my energetic lab. He is high anxiety and she handles him so well! I’m so happy I found her on here, and feel that my dog is in great hands when he’s being walked. Will always use her when I need someone to check on my baby while I’m at work.

Kate took such great care of our 3 kitties! She was attentive to all of their needs and it was clear how much she loves what she does through her updates to us which gave us so much peace of mind. She was communicative and reliable and will definitely be rebooking with her. 😊
