Kat’s Walking Dogs!

We are a husband and wife team so you’re getting 2 sitters for the price of 1! I’ve had all sorts of pets from fish, to reptiles, amphibians, rodents, dogs, cats, and marsupials. I am a life long animal lover and have owned all different breeds of dogs including a few of the more“stubborn” breeds such as a husky, a chow/Doberman mix, and a pitbull, so I am willing and able to care for breeds with strong personalities. I have also had plenty of experience with little dogs, such as my 16 year old chihuahua and my moms Pomeranian, so I am also well versed in dealing with DIVAS! I have watched MANY puppies and worked on their leash skills, basic commands, and I think just being around other dogs really helps puppies figure out what is acceptable, they learn so much from one another. I have also had 2 dogs who lived to be at least 16 years old so I know how to work with seniors and have systems for carrying larger old dogs up/down our outside steps when they need to go potty. I am also well versed and comfortable with administering oral medication. I own a two family home (side by side units) and my unit is a two floor three bedroom home. I have an unfenced yard and a large front porch so on a leash your pet can spend plenty of time outside.

My dog sitter cancelled last minute before a friends wedding, Kat was able to take my dog in on an hours notice. Kat provided pictures/updates through out the stay, and was exceptionally accommodating to the last minute booking. I highly recommend Kat for your pet sitting needs.

Kat had our dog Ralph for the holidays and was so sweet with him. I could tell he was so happy in all the videos she sent. I will definitely book with her in the future!

Kat was a great sitter for Miley and Charlie! I booked a last minute day care and Kat responded very quickly and was accommodating for a quick video call the day before. Dropping off the pups was a breeze and my dogs loved meeting her dogs! We came back to happy and tired pups. We are from Brooklyn but came to watch Met Life for the day but will be rebooking next time we’re in the area. 100% recommend!

Schedule

This is my full time job so I am home majority of the time and my husband works as a coach in the evenings. So basically, there is only ever about an hour where dogs are left alone at home. During this time they will either be in crates of gated areas to ensure they’re not able to get into any trouble. Typically my 11 year old daughter is also home with them during that hour but for everyone’s safety she doesn’t let them out of their respective crates or gated areas when she is home alone.

Non-smoking household
Has 2 dogs

Dogs not allowed on bed
Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 0-2 hours

Safety, trust & environment

We have a large un fenced yard and our home is two floors. We try to keep the dogs confined to the first floor all day, so that we can have an eye on them at all times. If certain dogs require sleeping with us, then those dogs are brought upstairs at night to our bedroom. We separate them for feeding times, either with gates, playpens, or crates. That’s just an extra precaution so no fights over food could ever occur. We can separate the first floor into 3 sections, living room, dining room, and kitchen, if necessary. We also have a gate up on the porch so that the dogs can safely hang out outside when the weather permits. Always supervised and we also have cameras.

A typical day

We love going for walks around the neighborhood and bringing along the dogs is the perfect excuse to get out more! We also love to go to a dog friendly beach, hiking, and to local dog parks (all with owners approval first of course). We spend time in the backyard in nice weather, we even have a kiddie pool for the pups to cool off in. We also like to leave the front door open so the dogs can hang out on the porch (which we have equipped with a gate for safety). Dogs typically get 3 walks a day, except for puppies who go out every 2-3 hours.

We have a 4 year old Catahoula mix, a 1 year old CavaPoo and a 12 year old daughter so it is important to know if your dog is friendly with dogs and children. I also prefer to know dog's typical sleeping arrangements so that if there is more than one dog staying with us, we can be sure that we are able to accommodate everyone accordingly. It would also be important to note if your pet is possessive or protective of anything (food, toys, etc) so we can be sure no one crosses their boundaries. We also like to get a general typical day schedule so we can adhere to that as much as possible and limit the stress of being in a new environment for them.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
