Doggos Are Family & Best Friends

Pet care experience

I’ve had the pleasure of living with, and caring for, my own doggos and others, throughout my entire life. The greatest wisdom I’ve learned from them is that they are here to teach us unconditional love, laughter, and loyalty during their short lives. I have also dog-sat for friends and family, in addition to taking care of their property and homes for many years. I’ve owned three homes in my life, on acreages, so I’m completely aware of the responsibilities involved. My other pet care experience extends to cats, birds, and tropical fish. However, my greatest expertise is with dogs. My knowledge of dog behavior and training has been through Caesar Milan (“Caesar’s Way” that includes rules, boundaries and limitations) plus the Leerburg methods. I’ve successfully used these techniques on my own dogs and other dogs (depending on the circumstances) as needed. Our pets are chosen family members and best friends. I believe we have a human responsibility to properly protect and care for them on every level. In general, they not only give us insight, but also regular opportunities to express care, compassion and self-awareness through our love.

Kat took care of my 2 Chihuahuas for 3 days and my home. The puppies took to her right away and even forced her to sleep with them! She was very helpful with my mother who was also staying at the home. I would certainly use her again.

Kat has show throughout the last ten years that we have known each other that she truly loves animals, takes loving care of her pets, and has high respect for the animal kingdom. Her dog and my dog were best friends and we shared walks and pet sitting many times throughout the years. My dog loved being with her and she even sent me videos of my pet when I was out of town so I could see what was going on. It was a good feeling for me when Kat was taking care of my loved one as I had no doubt that she was getting the best attention possible. Whenever I joined back with my dog she was relaxed, well fed, and calm. This was a true indication that my dog had experienced much love and attention. I give the highest of recommendation for Kat as a dog caregiver.

Kat has looked after our dog Goldy and our house several times and we have all been very happy with the the job she did. We find that she is well deserving of our trust. Goldy loves her. What greater testimonial can there be than that.

Kat has taken care of our dog Goldie many times. She has an easy going approach to becoming an animals friend. It was easy to see the great love she has for dogs. I would highly recommend Kat to anyone needing someone to care for their canine friend.

In my home (when I’ve had my own dogs), they have their own beds or designated areas, such as blankets and crates, to lay on/in. They also have play toys I bring out when it’s time to play. My dogs always know basic commands like come (and do so when their name is called), yes, no, sit, down, lay down, heel, and stay. They are potty trained and know “pee pee”, “potty” and “poop” on command, as needed. My dogs are leash trained and know how to heel and walk beside me without pulling. I use boundaries with rules inside and outside the house. There is never ever hitting or harming a dog, or any pet. I never feed dogs human food unless it’s prescribed by a vet or a special dietary requirement or recipe by the owner. They do not get fed anything from the table and have their own eating area to consume their own food at designated times. Basic commands, using their names, plus being rewarded for positive behavior with lots of affection, praise, and even a doggy treat, is a common practice for me.

Information Kat K. would like to know about your pet

-What type of training has your dog had? -What commands does your dog understand? -Is your dog potty trained? Is your dog on a schedule? -Is your dog leash trained (does not pull, knows “heel”, “stop/halt”, and “release”. -What special emotional needs does your dog have (separation anxiety, afraid of lightening/loud noises, fearful of strangers, chases cars/bikes, does not like other dogs, etc)? -Does your dog jump and/or is your dog aggressive?

A typical day

Aside from our regular daily schedule (see above), we will go on walks in your neighborhood and to local parks if within walking distance. We will play catch (or I’ll teach them how), play with toys together, in addition, lots of back and head scratches with gentle hugs. Sometimes, I try to teach commands to a dog for a limited amount of time, if they don’t know and seem to enjoy it. We most certainly will watch a movie or television show together for relaxation. Naps too!

Generally, the dogs (or pets) would follow my schedule. Daily, I walk 2-3 miles, so the dogs would go with me—if that’s part of their routine. Unless otherwise instructed, I would feed them on my schedule, as I eat meals twice a day. I’d check their water at those times too. Everything else, like playtime, grooming, or training happens when I take breaks from my work or during relaxation time. Then, (like me!) regular potty breaks first thing in the morning, throughout the day, and before bedtime. As for other pets, I’d follow instructions from the owner.
