Kat can care for
Availability
I volunteer part time, so have time to spend during the week and at weekends with your companion animals. How much time I spend depends on the individual animal's needs: some cats love company, so I'll stay a while to relax and be a comforting presence, while others are anxious about having an unknown person in their home - I do the care needed, then let them have their space back, if that is better for them.

Safety, trust & environment
I visit the pet in their home and care for them as requested. I'm used to keeping doors closed and being wary upon entering with indoor cats who may try to escape, have looked after cats with definite meal times and timed cat flaps, and sat for cats who are free to come and go as they please. I can visit once and use a timed feeder machine (owners own) for other meals, or visit twice per day. Some are fed once a day. I can also stay overnight if your pet needs company then. On overnight stays, I would go out in the daytime for a couple of hours (longer on my volunteer days)
Information Kat D. would like to know about your pet
I won't sit dogs who are aggressive when anxious, and don't let them dogs off the lead on walks incase they won't return to me. I do let them wander and sniff on a lose lead as much as possible and play inside or in an enclosed garden. Let me know if you have a way to call your pets in - I've used a bell and whistled for cats, as well as the standard biscuit shake - and any other needs or preferences. We'll have a meeting before the sitting starts to go over it all.
A typical day
I'll play with your cat or dogs favourite toys, but also know to spot the signs of over-stimulation & wind down the playtime. I can also chill on the sofa with them beside me or on my lap. I've walked cats as well as dogs, and even taken a rabbit outside for a hop in the (secure) garden, as part of his regular routine!

Pet care experience
My main pet sitting is cats, with many (many!) years of experience caring for feline family members. I've also looked after rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters & birds & a snake & will consider others with clear instructions. I'm happy walking dogs on lead, giving meds, feeding and playing with dogs. I'm not a trainer, but will continue using voice commands and hand signals owners have implemented. I have a keen interest in dog behaviour.

Reviews

Kat was great and ensured that my cat was well-looked after while I'm away.
Kat was amazing again with our cuddly old boy. Came home to a very happy relaxed cat. Highly recommended!
Kat is the best! She took such good care of Blu. He adores her.
Kat always does a brilliant job! She keeps us well informed about how the cats are doing and takes the time to play with them and give them strokes too.
