Information Karli D. would like to know about your pet

Does your dog have aggressive tendencies towards other people, kids, pets, or animals? Is there a maximum distance ability on hikes? Are there any specific behaviors you are training for or against?

A typical day

Alex is an early bird and usually is up by 5-6am. He likes an early run or walk and of course enjoys company so your dog will get exercise first thing. We also try to either hike or walk at least twice more throughout the day. We try to match the pet's typical routine and have the most fun when your pup has a best friend for a play date.

Pet care experience

In the fall of 2021 my husband & I sold our home in Madison, WI, & we used the proceeds to build our camper van (we call him Vango). Since February 2022 we've been full time travelers! We have absolutely fallen in love with the desert mountains of the southwest. With full time travels winding down we've spent most of 2024 house and pet sitting. We've sat for more than 15 people, a handful of which have asked us to sit multiple times. We're both self-employed as nutritionists, a hobby turned career, after thousands of hours of self study and helping loved ones overcome chronic health issues. We also both have side gigs in our original fields of study and work, Karli as an artist and Alex as a solar engineer. Karli doesn't have a single favorite medium, but she tends to lean into graphic illustration, acrylic painting, printmaking, and photography the most. Her Nikon D850 sure gets a workout while we’re on the road! Alex is in the midst of starting up a solar engineering firm with two of his former coworkers. Setting our own schedules allows the flexibility to hit the trails and accommodate your pets needs when most people are working. We get most of our work done on the weekends when the trails get busy. Before traveling full time, Karli spent her free time professionally walking dogs, caring for our raised bed gardens and plethora of house plants, and expanding her culinary capabilities. We have several dietary restrictions in our household that makes it nearly impossible to eat out. Fear not, Karli delights in the challenge of making her own tasty creations right at home! I filled much of my free time with ultimate frisbee and triathlon races. Both on and off the road, we love a good board game. A few of our favorites are Wingspan, National Parks, Jokers ("Marble Game"), Scrabble, and Canasta. Do you have any recommendations for two player games that are travel friendly? A new hobby we’ve picked up while being on the road is foraging for wild plants. With the help of apps and paperback guide books we have really expanded our culinary survival guide. Most of the stuff you find in nature is edible, but it sure doesn’t taste very good. The novelty of eating slimy cactus fruits is fun, but we prefer tastier treasures like raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and huckleberries! One of our favorite ways to explore a new urban area is to bike to local breweries (we love a pucker worthy sour beer!), wineries, and coffee shops. We primarily like to road bike, but we're contemplating getting into mountain biking once we settle down again.

Karli and her husband were probably the most comfortable our pup has been in all the years we've him watched. Super kind, listened to his quirks, and without a doubt respected our requests. Would book them over and over again.

Karli and Alex are great! Our girl has a bit of anxiety and we did a test run before leaving town. She was completely at ease them and even got to do an adventure walk!

Karli walked our energetic labradoodle every day when we were out of town. We would definitely book with her again!
