Before a sit, I like to know your pet's daily routine (feeding times, portions, and any dietary restrictions or allergies). Please let me know about medications (dosage and timing), any medical conditions, and your vet's contact info in case of emergency. I also appreciate knowing your pet's personality and habits: what makes them anxious, how they do with strangers or other animals, favorite toys or comfort items, and any commands or cues they respond to. For dogs, leash behavior and recall are especially helpful to know about. The more detail you share, the more comfortable and at-home your pet will feel with me.
A typical day
I follow your pet's normal routine as closely as possible — set meal times, regular walks, and plenty of one-on-one attention throughout the day. I keep an eye on their eating, energy, and behavior so I notice quickly if anything seems off, and I regularly send photo and video updates so you always know how they're doing. Evenings wind down with more play or a walk, dinner, and quiet time before bed. I tailor activities to each pet, so long walks, hikes, or fetch for high energy dogs; gentle walks and cuddles for seniors or more laid back pups; feather wands or lap time for cats. I'm always happy to follow any games or routines your pet already loves, so they feel comfortable and at ease while you're away.

Pet care experience
With over 3 years of full time overnight and long-term petsitting experience, I bring real expertise and a whole lot of love to caring for your pets. I grew up on a cattle ranch in Oregon, and animals have been part of my life ever since. I've gone on to care for pets all over the world through various sitting opportunities. I'm comfortable with dogs of different breeds, sizes and energy levels, and I enjoy getting to know each cat's particular quirks. I'm also experienced with senior pets, including administering medications, managing mobility issues, and keeping a close eye on any special needs they have. Over the years I've cared for horses, dogs, cats, and even shrimp, so whatever your pet's personality, your furry (or fin-y) family member will be in experienced, loving hands.

We have worked with Karla on a prior sit. She was absolutely incredible (easily one of the top cat sitters we’ve ever had, and we’ve had quite a few over the years). She stayed with our 20 year old cat, Dmitri, for about two weeks, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the start, it was clear how attentive and caring she is. He received plenty of love, attention, and all the care he needed while we were away. It’s always a relief to come home to a calm, content cat, and that’s exactly what we found. Karla also took great care of our home. Everything was clean and in excellent condition when we returned, which made coming back even easier. Her communication was spot-on throughout the entire stay. She provided updates at just the right frequency, enough to keep us reassured without ever feeling excessive. Karla pet sat for us for six weeks in 2024. She had the responsibility of two energetic dogs and a household with plenty of plants and vegetables and a hot tub to keep regulated. She did a wonderful job and we came back to find everything in great shape. She is supremely capable and is able to problem solve if anything crops up. She sent us pictures of the dogs during her stay, which was also reassuring. We would not hesitate to have her back or to recommend her for other sits. You can feel confident when she is in charge.😊
