Information Karin Ann S. would like to know about your pet

It helps us to know if your pet is friendly with other pets. We need to know if there’s a strong prey drive. It helps to know if they’re good on a leash. Food allergies and stomach sensitivities are important. Favorite things to do.

A typical day

One of us will wake up when your pet does and make sure she/he/they can relieve themselves and have some breakfast. After that, we'll go for our first walk before it gets too hot. Then, pets can hang around in any number of pet beds, on sofas or chairs. We limit midday outside to potty breaks to avoid the heat and then try to do a late afternoon walk. We do go on early evening walks as it cools off, and there's a last time outdoors trip to potty before bed. Pets sleep with me, my son, on their beds, or wherever they feel most comfortable. We are always happy for a cuddle but recognize not all dogs want to snuggle. We have a baby pool in the back if dogs want to splash and play in water, which many seem to enjoy. This is open space; we never hear fireworks or sirens, so anxious pets find quiet and calm.

Cats and Dogs and Parrots! Oh My!

Pet care experience

I’ve been a dog, cat, and parrot mom for most of my life, which is 40+ years, and a Rover sitter for 9 years across 3 states. We like little dogs, big dogs, all the cats, and most of the birds. Over the years, we’ve had Chihuahuas, Japanese Chins, Pit Bulls, and Aussies to German Shepherds. I’ve owned Amazons, Cockatoos, Cockatiels, and Conures. There’s always at least one cat about the place, and often a clowder. I’ve worked for vets, worked with the Humane Society, fostered mom cats and dogs and their babies, and taught classes about animal behavior for the Philadelphia Zoo. My son and I were the proud owners of a retired military K9 who was injured in the line of duty before he came to us to enjoy his retirement on the beach. As a professional writer and researcher who works from home, my flexible schedule allows me to be right there with your pets. My son is now 20, in college, and fully participates in the business, helping out with walks, care, and attention so that guests are almost never alone in our care. Our Home & Environment: We live in South Georgia on a farm with many acres, providing a peaceful, wide-open environment for visiting pets. There are never fireworks or sirens here. We have a baby pool if they want to splash, but they are never off-leash or out of our sight. Pet Management & Return Clients: As our many happy return customers show, we pride ourselves on providing a loving, reliable home-away-from-home. We only have one family’s pets in our home at a time to ensure personalized attention and safety. We use baby gates if we need to separate new friends, and we use positive reinforcement only. Dogs are always walked on leashes. They are only in crates if that is the owner’s preference. They are allowed on furniture with owner permission. We try hard to reinforce your training and rules. Health, Fleas, & Realities of the South: We keep our own pets on strict flea and tick preventative care. However, this is the South, and since our property includes wide-open acreage and the dogs go outside, outdoor exposure to elements like fleas can occasionally happen despite preventative efforts. We advise clients to use their own flea preventatives. Last year, fleas were a challenge. This year, we have not seen one. Addressing Out-of-Pocket Feedback: You may see an isolated negative review or two from individuals who made unrealistic demands or ungrounded complaints. We were closed to Rover clients between November 2025 and May 2026 as we relocated. We take pride in our high standards, transparent communication, and the wonderful experiences our many loyal clients enjoy. Please get in touch and let me know how we can help you go away with the complete peace of mind that your pets are receiving excellent care.

After expressing my concerns, she became completely defensive. Let me just clarify since when she responds to reviews it’s always the same response, I’m not making this review seeking to get my money back. At this point, I’m making this review to warn others and because she was just completely unprofessional. She was supposed to watch my dog a few days through throughout the week while I worked because I wasn’t comfortable leaving my young puppy alone for that long. She was with my dog all of 12 hours, and when I picked him up, I expressed he reeked of urine and had fleas and he would not be returning. Mind you none of this he had prior to her assuming his care. She became extremely defensive. To me based off of other reviews it seems like this is a reoccurring problem. Unfortunately, I didn’t see the reviews until I had already booked, which led to a lot of anxiety and I wish I would have listen to my gut. There was no indication that he was not properly cared for however, the smell and fleas is a no go for me. The smell is actually so bad that it made me gag…

This family was amazing! Very flexible and loving with my girlie! She had an amazing time and slept like a baby when she got home. I could tell she partied a lot. LOL! I will be using them for overnights again.

We really appreciated Karin. She and her son eased our minds while we left our dogs for the first time. She provided pictures and met them wherever they were emotionally! Thank you!
