Cats and Dogs and Parrots! Oh My!
I've been a dog/cat/parrot mom for most of my life, which is 40+ years. I like little dogs, big dogs, all the cats and most of the birds. We've had Chihuahuas and Japanese Chins to Pitties and and Aussies to German Shepherds. I've owned Amazons and Cockatoos and Cockatiels and Conures. There's always at least one cat about the place, and often a clowder. I've worked for vets, worked with the Humane Society, fostered mom cats and dogs and their babes and taught classes about animal behavior for the Philadelphia Zoo. I've written children's books about dogs, and my son and I were the proud owners of a retired military K9 who was injured in the line of duty before he came to us to enjoy his retirement on the beach. I'm a professional writer/researcher who works from home, and my flexible schedule allows me to play with your babies when you can't be there to do it. My son is 17, and he's homeschooling at the moment, so he's around to take the doggos out for walk and give them a cuddle. They're almost never alone in our care. We are often asked to care for pets in clients' home, and I can do that after a meeting. Before we moved to South Florida, I spent many years as an on-site estate manager at a large compound in suburban Philadelphia's Radnor Hunt. I am responsible, reliable and able to manage whatever you need while you are away. We’re Covid and RSV cautious , so if that is a concern for you, please know that I will take precautions in your home and clean thoroughly. Please get in touch and let me know how we can help you go away with the peace of mind that your pets, and/or your home, are receiving excellent care. Given that we are in the south, and fleas and ticks are a year-round concern, we have our pets on flea prevention. We cannot control the areas outdoors where they go for walks. Please have your pets treated.

Communication was great
Their home smelled really bad when I went to pick him up. I had to throw away his bed, blanket, and soft toy. I had to bathe my pup immediately when I got home. Also the lid of one of my food storage containers was chewed up.
Karin and her son did a great job taking care of our Doodle. Kept us up to date with him through the week/weekend and we picked him up in great condition! Will definitely be using again for our future trips!
I wish I could give less than 1 star, I picked up my dogs and they were filthy! They wrecked of urine and it seems like she tried to wipe them off just before I got there. All of their toys and the blanket I sent was covered in urine and my smallest dog’s fur was matted as if she had been enclosed all weekend laying in her urine. There was no leftover food sent back even though I sent more than enough which is not an issue other than my youngest one looks like she’s not been fed as much. Sometimes they are picky eaters but I sent extra food toppings to mitigate that and I also never got updated that there was an issue, matter of fact she had only texted me once for the whole 5 days. Not to mention they were covered in fleas which we don’t have an issue with even living in apartments. Speaking of which I’m sure with the way my dogs smelled and acted when I got them back she’s not cleaning her apartment very well. I am so disappointed and pissed off about this and I hope no one else has to deal with the kind of mess I have on my hands, just thankful to have my babies back in one piece .
My cats spent three weeks with them. They came home covered in fleas, which is completely unexpected since they had absolutely no fleas before their visit and are indoor cats. As a result, they lost weight and hair, and they are in distress. I am extremely upset and disappointed because I had the impression that they were being taken care of. This experience has made me vow never to let my cats be taken care of by anyone else.

Programa
I work remotely. My son homeschools. One of us is almost always home. If we are not, we take care to make sure our guests are safe.

We only have one family pet(s) in our home at a time. We use baby gates to if we need to separate new friends. We use positive reinforcement only. Dogs are walked on leashes.

Un día normal
One of us will wake up when your pet does and make sure she/he/they can relieve themselves and have some breakfast. After that, we'll go for our first walk before it gets too hot. Then, pets can hang around in any number of pet beds, on sofas or chairs. We limit midday outside to potty breaks to avoid the heat and then try to do a late afternoon walk being mindful of keeping paws on grass and not concrete as it gets hot here. We do go on early evening walks as it cools off, and there's a last time outdoors trip to potty before bed. Pets sleep with me, my son, on their beds, or wherever they feel most comfortable. We are always happy for a cuddle but recognize not all dogs want to snuggle.
