Hello, I’m Karen and I work in animal welfare at Cochrane and Area Humane society. I’m PACE certified, (Positive Approach Canine Education) and working on continued education in Fear Free training. I utilize positive reinforcement training techniques and believe mental and physical exercise are equally important for every animal’s welfare. I will take the time to get to your dog and tailor the walks to his/her needs whether it’s a decompression sniffari walk for a high energy dog , or a slow meander around a quiet neighborhood for a senior or a fearful dog. If they prefer some play time in the back yard we can do that as well.

She is a highly skilled and confident dog handler with the ability to build trusting relationships with any canine friend who finds themselves in her care. She has a calm, gentle and patient approach when working with all animals but she really shines when interacting with dogs who are displaying complex behaviours. She is exceptionally knowledgeable in dog behaviour and training, a strong communicator, reliable and works harder than anyone I know. And she’s super fun, your pup will have a total blast!!

A typical day
We can explore new areas, go on a sniffari, or walk the same route whatever your dog prefers. In addition to walks, we can use mental exercise to engage your dog on the walk or focus on enrichment at home depending on your dog's level of activity and needs. If you dog likes to play with toys, needs confidence building or to burn off some energy I will strive to provide what they need and enjoy.

I work 4 day rotation, so my schedule varies each week. The days I'm off I'm very flexible and am available morning, afternoon, and evenings but I can also plan my schedule in advance
