Pet care experience
Pet-sitting: sighthound approved!
A lifelong cat lover, I got my pet-sitting start with greyhounds — basically giant cats that can hit 40 mph and then lounge for 20 hours straight. If there's a dog bed, a couch, or a sunny patch of floor, these couch potatoes will find it! I love working with all breeds and sizes, from small dogs to big mixed breeds. It's through greyhounds that I first learned every pet has its own personality; even within one breed, and I pay attention to what each one actually needs. Walks or sprints (within fences of course), cozy downtime, and feeding and dietary needs — raw diets, allergies, or just keeping mealtime on schedule — are all part of care. I always keep a close eye on leash handling. Sighthounds especially can sometimes get distracted by everything from a rustling leaf to a squirrel three yards away. Since every dog pulls, weaves, or settles differently, I read each one and adapt. When I'm not on pet duty, I'm an artist and researcher. I grew up in this area and recently moved back after 25 years in New York City. I'm still getting reacquainted with the area, and always up for local recommendations!

Karen has cared for both of our dogs over the years. The compassion and care she showed when she took care of our elderly dog Finch, left us feeling so confident and safe when we traveled and left him in her care. We were able to enjoy our time on vacation with plenty of photo updates on how he was enjoying his cuddle time. Equally, the fun and attention she brought to caring for our younger dog Migo was such a joy to witness. Her knowledge and care for dogs is tremendous!
I have sighthounds which require a dedicated pet sitter who is security-minded and understands their unique needs; Karen does just that!! I have seen her care for dozens of sighthounds as well as other dogs and cats! You will get someone who is detail-oriented and attentive to your pet while she is staying with them. I highly recommend her! Just don’t book her when I need her! 🤪

Schedule
I generally work from home on my laptop computer, with occasional trips to my studio. Making your pet a priority and arranging my schedule around theirs is not a problem.
