Vet Assitant & Dog Trainer

I've been working as a vet assistant for 8 years with experience in professional dog training. You can have peace of mind knowing that your pets will be well cared for. I have a lot of experience working with pets of different ages, medical conditions, and personalities. I am comfortable giving injections and inhalers, and working with high energy puppies, senior pets, and spicy kitties.

Karen is a gem. I have two dogs and one of them is a senior who requires a lot of maintenance and special care. I can’t tell you how much of a relief it is to have her help and care for my boys. Thank you, Karen!

Schedule

My work schedule is usually 4 days a week and im usually at work between 8 AM - 6 PM. So I do need to know if your baby is fine being home without someone for that long. I can always ask for shorter days during my stays or can request days off if your dog/cat needs more attention.

Safety, trust & environment

I know how much I love getting updates and pictures of my fur babies so I'll make sure you hear from me daily. I think there is also some level of comfort in knowing that I am a veterinary assistant. We have a back yard, so dogs are always allowed to romp around back there. However, I don't leave them unattended, I know how easy it is for them to find something they shouldn't put in their mouth. We do try and make sure we close all the cabinets and don't leave anything on the table, sink, trash can, etc.

A typical day

Walks are so important for dogs. My family loves to do group walks with our dog and the dogs we watch, and they LOVE it! Aside from the daily walk, they get to explore the backyard. We have a bunch of toys for them to play and destroy, if they choose. At home, we provide them that home away from home feeling, they have a second family with us! I know not every dog cares for walks, so cuddles on the couch are always welcome.

Karen can host up to 3 pets per night
It is important for me to know if your dog is reactive to cats. Since we do have 3, if they are reactive, we may not be able to watch your dog at our place. However, I am always open to a one night trial to see how your dog gets along with the cats. Of course, I do ask all pets to have all their vaccines and current on their parasite prevention. I have found (once in a blue moon) a tick in our backyard, so this is important. I also do work at a vet hospital, so my pets are protected from external parasites. Per the vaccines, in specific, they do need their Rabies, DAPP (Distemper), Bordetella (Kennel Cough), and Canine Influenza. I host a lot of dogs and cats and have some of my own, so I always want to make sure my angels, along with yours, are always protected! I like to know if they use crates and what kind of habits they have, like trash digging, chewing socks or shoes, escaping through the front door, excited peeing.
