Doggy Day Care • May 28, 2019

Kara took such great care of our dog, Cooper. You can clearly tell that our pup was loved as if he were her own. She gave such detailed notes and we loved seeing photos of Cooper that she took. He got plenty of exercise, potty breaks, and play time. We can’t wait to have her watch Cooper again in the future.

I know Kara for a month now and she is an excellent dog sitter. Her dogs ivy and fifi are great with other dogs and very friendly. Her mom is very caring and friendly.

Schedule

I work full time Monday through Friday, but my husband works from home, so your pup will primarily be with one of us throughout the day. On occasion, we may step out for errands like grocery shopping or going out to eat, but the dogs will never be left alone for more than about 4 hours at a time. We are mindful about their safety and comfort when we do leave the home. We can separate the dogs if needed, and we also use a Furbo camera so we can monitor them and check in while we’re away.

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a house with a fully fenced-in yard, which provides a safe space for pets to play and exercise. I follow each pet owner’s instructions regarding feeding schedules, potty breaks, medications, walks, and any special care needs. I strive to maintain their usual routine to help them feel comfortable and secure while in my care. Pets in my home are treated like part of the family and receive plenty of attention, supervision, playtime, and affection. Their safety is always a priority, and I take precautions such as separating pets when appropriate and monitoring them closely to ensure a positive experience for everyone.

Pets

A typical day

I will take the pets on regular walks and provide plenty of supervised playtime and interaction throughout the day. If appropriate and approved by the owner, we may also go on short car rides and fun outings such as getting pet-safe treats like ice cream. At home, pets will get lots of engagement, enrichment, and attention, including positive social interaction with my toddler and my dog to help them stay active, happy, and comfortable.

It’s important for me to know ahead of time about each pet’s routine, temperament, and any specific needs or preferences. This includes things like feeding schedules, medication instructions, allergies, behavioral quirks (such as anxiety, reactivity, or separation stress), and how they do with other dogs, children, or new environments. I also like to know their preferred walking style, any triggers to avoid, and what helps them feel most comfortable so I can provide consistent, safe, and personalized care. I prefer to do a meet and greet beforehand whenever possible so the pets, owners, and I can get comfortable with each other and ensure it’s a good fit. It’s also very important for me to understand how the dogs interact with my own dogs and my child, as safety is a top priority in my home. I take introductions slowly and carefully and will only allow interactions that feel safe and appropriate for everyone involved.
