Meaning that if you message me outside those hours, I will most likely not respond right away. It might also take some time for me to respond during my time engaged in dog walking, but I will get back to you as soon as I can. For boarding, I DO NOT PROVIDE CONSTANT CARE due to my engaged in my pet care and walking duties outside my home. Preferred Drop-off and pick-up hours are 8:30-9 am and 7-9 pm on weekdays and 9 am to 9 pm on weekends. Your dog must be good to be left alone for up to 4 hours at a time while I’m engaged in tending to other pets. My husband works from home 2-3 days per week and our dog is always around to keep company. I'm also able to bring any boarders to my afternoon pack walk if they're good walking with other dogs on or off-leash for one hour.

Safety, trust & environment
We count on a fenced yard. I also own multiple pet gates in order to provide a safe environment for you pet having the possibility to separate them if needed. For peace of mind I only accept a few dogs at a time (1-3) as part of my safety practices as I can better keep an eye on each dog. I count on a pet cam to keep and eye on the pooches while I’m not home. I don’t require pooches to be crate-trained, but I do see it as a great advantage if they are, and we can certainly continue doing it here. I have one XL crate, but you can provide your own if you wish to. I have a pet cam to watch the pups while I’m away, so feel free to request that I set it up. Due to my medical background, I am usually good at detecting abnormal behaviour, signs of unwellness, and deliver meds through various routes if required. ALL dogs that stay/walk with me are required to be fully vaccinated and have flea/tick treatment up to date. You will be requested for proof. I care that your dog is protected, but also my dog, and the other client's pups. Please make sure your dog is vaccinated at least 2 weeks prior to stay for a solid effectivity. As for cats, I am not able to care for cats at my home, but I can come to your home. I don’t like being invasive with them so I let them warm up to me. I don’t force cats to come out or interact if the cat is not comfortable. It’s rarely the case that a cat will hide while I’m in your home, but if that happens I will just try to spot it so I can report that it’s doing well. I’ll also count the number of droppings in the litter box and report whether food and water have been consumed.

Information Kaori F. would like to know about your pet
Why book with me? 1) Your dog will have personalized attention since we only board up to 3 dogs. 2) Outdoor walking time guaranteed. A 60 min walk/outdoor playtime offered with each night of boarding. I usually drive out to the woods or trails for this, but I also go to the park for a good game of fetch. Feel free to request additional walks with the extra fee. 3) On-site leashed neighborhood walks or off-site off leash walks in the dog park (woods) and trails. 4) I own multiple enrichment toys, good quality materials and safe for your dogs. Mental stimulation is part of the routine here. 5) Slow introductions. Some dogs don’t do well if not introduced properly. I count on multiple pet gates and use gradual introduction methods. 6) As a pet parent, you will feel reassured from the beginning of your pet’s stay. Especially the first day or two of the stay you will receive daily updates on the multiple photos. For longer stays I space out communication frequency once the pet parent is comfortable. You will hear from me every other day or so. I wish you to be able to relax during your holiday and not worry about your fur child. Please NO micromanaging at a distance! I am not comfortable with high maintenance pet parents. 7) I will provide for a google forms for you to fill in order to learn your pet's traits, habits, preferences of foods, allergies, triggers, fears, medical conditions, behavioral issues, routines, etc. 8) I am professionally trained in veterinary medicine. An asset that very few sitters will be able to offer. IT’S ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO MEET & GREET PREVIOUS TO BOOKING. IT'S BEST TO FIND OUT IF YOUR PET AND I ARE A GOOD FIT PRIOR TO THE SERVICE, SO PLEASE BE AWARE THAT I DON'T ACCEPT NEW CLIENTS WITHOUT A M&G. A few other notes: --> For a speedier process and less back and forth messaging, please ensure that you fill out the extended profile on your pets profile. It also helps for me to have the information on hand. I have fairly good memory, but I also have many pets I care for. --> For long stays, I might request one or two trial or acclimation stays/daytime care previous to plunging into a long stay. These are paid stays. Until now, it's been the best way to confirm that we are a good fit and to help pups get used to us and our day to day routine. Please request with several weeks in advance. --> I require proof of vaccination status as well as internal/external parasite treatment (either bring it to the M & G or send me a snap of the proof by message). --> My family has preference for quiet, medium energy, and preferably low-shedding adult dogs. This matches our dog’s profile. But also 2 one family member has experienced allergies to some shedders, so I would have to evaluate whether your dog breed/mix works in our household or not. --> We have had a harder time adjusting to more vocal and anxious dogs, more typically the smaller companion breeds. We also try to stay away from dogs that have a history of being destructive, too vocal, are escape artists or counter surfers. --> I require dogs to be fully housebroken. In all honesty, we prefer avoiding pee pads, belly bands, and diapers. We do have bells installed on our patio sliding door for those dogs that are trained to use them. --> Dogs with high anxiety levels will most likely not do well with us due to the length of time I am away. Unfortunately I cannot be there to provide constant care and reassurance to your pups. --> Additionally, in our home, our boarders are limited to roam on ground floor, but are not allowed on the second floor where the bedrooms are located. Please keep in mind that it means your dog will be required to sleep on ground floor either alone or with another boarder. If your dog does not sleep alone, I am anticipating we would not be a good fit. We can only accommodate dogs that don’t sleep on their own for a max of 2 nights and I will remain with the dog throughout the night. Unfortunately this won’t work for us for longer stays.
A typical day
My typical day looks like this: I am ready for the dogs at around 7:30-8, taking them first out to potty in the backyard. Then they come in for breakfast and out again before I leave for my walks between 9-10 am. Walks for boarders happen sometime between 12 and 2 pm. When I’m out dog walking, I can be away for a few hours at a time depending on the day. Dogs stay in our home with limited access to spaces. I am able to separate using pet gates, if needed/requested. They have free access to water. Before stepping out, I make sure I prepare some enrichment activities like treats hidden in frozen kongs, snuffle mats, lick mats, mazes, puzzles, chew toys and treats, etc. Most dogs will just snooze during the time I’m away. My afternoon walk, usually one of the last ones of the day and I bring the pups to a place where they can go off-leash in a pack walk style. If you can attest your dog has a good recall and some off-leash skills, I’m happy to bring your pup along. But I also understand that not all dogs are OK to be walked in the style, so I can always keep one or two dogs on leash if requested. We can discuss this during the M&G. Evenings are spent with some play time, dinner, and cuddles with me, my son, or husband, or all, depending on who is home at the time.

Pet care experience
Hi, my name is Kaori. Animals are my life :) Before becoming a pet sitter/walker, I earned a degree in veterinary medicine from my country of origin, Mexico (1997-2001). I have a command of several languages in case clients are more comfortable communicating in Spanish,French, and Japanese, additional to English. As a side responsibility, I serve as a scientific reviewer for the committee for ethical use of laboratory animals for pre-clinical studies of a transnational company. I’m part of a team that ensures compliance in laboratory animal welfare standards. In my early teen years I pet sat my neighbors' and family friends' dogs and cats. I enjoyed it so much and continued to help out whenever I had the opportunity. During my veterinary school days, I was involved in the organization of canine conformation shows, which helped me enormously to get acquainted with all breed types and their temperaments. I also worked part-time at a veterinary clinic. In a nutshell I always showed inclination towards many aspects of companion animals. After moving to this beautiful country, I made up my mind of not continuing ti pursue a career in veterinary medicine here. Instead, I decided to dive back into the pet care business as its something I greatly enjoyed doing in the past. I have to say it’s gone pretty well. I now have many repeat and recurring clients that trust their awesome pets to me. Complementary to my background, I've received some training in other areas such as grooming and basic obedience training that are useful to my job as an animal care provider. I have undergone some online pet sitter/walker specific training as well, while working for a local business. I am also certified in Pet First Aid by First Aid Plus Walk N Wags. I currently live in a townhouse in Stittsville with my husband, one of my young adult boy, and our fur child Mollie. We are lucky to have a a variety of trails and woods nearby that we enjoy of and where I bring my dog and my clients' pups to. Our home has a fenced-in yard that we use for potty breaks and a leg stretch in between walks. I am happy to assist you and your pups.

Reviews

What can we say? It is so comforting having Kaori come by to check in and take care of our two cats. Between ensuring they get fed, the litter and water are taken care of, she spends time playing with them and puts in the extra effort to make sure they are doing well. We are so thankful each time we have Kaori take care of our cats!!!

Kaori is fantastic we trust her completely with our senior pups, would highly recommend.

Another excellent cat sitting experience with Kaori! Each visit she ensured the cats were fed, water was full, litter was scooped, and they had some playtime! And of course, many pics of our fur babies to see how much they like Kaori’s visits! Thanks again!!!! 😁
We are so beyond happy we booked with Kaori! She brought so many treats and engagement activities for Molly and always sent updates and pictures along the way. Kaori puts so much love and care into what she does and it is so so appreciated.
