I volunteered as a bather at the Alaska K9 Center for awhile. I took classes there every Friday with my German Shepherd also. (I love Beth.) One of the places I used to stay had a kitten and a shitzu mix I helped take care of. Otherwise my partners's family has multiple dogs and farm animals I help look after. As for our shepherd, I train, groom, bond, play, anything and everything I can do to try to help keep her fulfilled. My partner and I also have a small leopard gecko (he's a sweet old man), a spider, and two chinchillas. I'm well accustomed to watching a whole mangerie of pets/ animals. I do not have my own vehicle, my partner has to drop me off at sits. During weekdays I will at least not be able to arrive/ leave until 6-6:30pm or later (depends on his work). This does not apply to weekends and am usually able to be flexible about the time then.

Safety, trust & environment

The most important thing is getting the pet to trust and be comfortable with me, lots of praise, playing, and treats. Most animals that are "mean" or "scary" just need patience and understanding, someone willing to put in the effort. As an owner myself of a reactive dog I understand how frustrating assumptions like those can be.

Information Kalon G. would like to know about your pet

All restrictions, diet, exercise. Triggers for them, people, other dogs, certain sounds, etc. If there's certain spot on the animal that is sensitive or make them reactive. Any known allergies. Obviously medications and how they're treated with it.

A typical day

Depending on the animal, breed, and restrictions they'll have we'd do various forms of play, practice any skills the animal knows if allowed, and enrichment activities.

This is the second year that I have used her to take care of my dogs. She gives them the personal attention that they need. In every picture she sends they look very content and happy. She snuggles them and plays with them and walks them. My special needs boy gets everything he needs and I don't have to worry. It's also nice to know that there's a presence in the house when we're gone. Sometimes she bakes me treats as a surprise when I get home. I will be sad if she stops being a sitter.

Wonderful to work with! She really paid attention to the dogs needs and personalities. I have a needy elderly dog and a rambunctious puppy but she loved on them both. They adored her and were also healthy. She was also flexible when some plans got changed last minute. I will use her again in a heartbeat.
