Kalie can care for
Availability
My schedule is flexible with some notice, and I can usually make pet care work around my teaching and work commitments. If I’m not teaching, I can be pet-sitting! Evenings and weekends are often the easiest for me, but I may also have daytime availability depending on the week. Just reach out with your dates and your pet’s needs, and I’ll let you know what I can do.

Safety, trust & environment
I take safety, trust, and communication seriously. Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home, I want them to feel secure, comfortable, and cared for. I love sending photos and updates during visits so pet parents can see that their pets are safe, happy, and having a good time. It is nice to receive cute pictures, of course, but it also adds transparency and peace of mind while you are away. I follow your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible. I pay close attention to feeding instructions, litter box or potty routines, medications, preferred toys, household rules, and your pet’s comfort level with new people.
Information Kalie S. would like to know about your pet
Before caring for your pet, I like to know as much as possible about their routine and needs. My first questions usually include medical needs, medications, allergies, eating preferences, behavior, temperament, favorite toys, fears, triggers, and anything unusual I should watch for. I also like to know how they usually respond to new people, other animals, walks, crates, litter boxes, or being left alone. The more I know ahead of time, the better I can care for your little guy or girl exactly the way they need.
A typical day
A typical visit depends on the pet, but my goal is always to make sure they feel cared for, safe, and engaged. For dogs, I love going on walks, playing, giving attention, and helping them get some energy out. Not only is it fun for them, but it also gets me moving too...just kidding, but not really. For cats, I am so happy to play with wand toys, strings, treats, puzzle toys, or whatever they enjoy. I also know some cats prefer quiet companionship, a little space, or being admired from across the room, and I’m completely fine with that too. I let pets show me what they are comfortable with and adjust from there.

Pet care experience
Hello! I have years of experience with pet-sitting, childcare, and house-sitting, and I bring a calm, attentive, and compassionate approach to caring for animals. I grew up in a home with cats, dogs, chickens, and domesticated mice, had pet rats for many years, and currently have three cats of my own: Lavender, Rosemary, and Juniper. What sets me apart is my hands-on experience with animals who need extra patience or specialized care. I volunteered for two years at a wildlife rehabilitation center, where I learned wound care, safe handling, and how to work carefully with nervous, reactive, or “spicy” animals. I also volunteered with a cat rescue for years, so I am very comfortable with cats who are shy, fearful, overstimulated, or still learning to trust people. I have experience administering oral medication, insulin injections, and subcutaneous fluids for kidney disease care. I’m comfortable caring for senior pets, pets with medical needs, and animals who need a slower, gentler approach. I also have experience with a variety of animals beyond cats and dogs, including rats, mice, chickens, reptiles, and birds of prey. I love animals in general, so if you have pets beyond cats and dogs, I’m happy to discuss their care needs. My evenings and weekends are usually available, and I can sometimes be free earlier in the day. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. I’d love to learn more about your pets and how I can help care for them.

Reviews

Kalie was absolutely amazing. She was very communicative and flexible throughout the time I was away. I really appreciated all of the updates and photos. Can’t wait to work with her again in the future ❤️

Katie sends a ton of pictures and even some with funny captions! She makes missing my boys a little easier when I'm gone!

She’s the best! I rehired her for a last minute trip I had come up. My terrified of strangers cat remembered her from the last trip and had no troubles eating, which was awesome. She also offered to come back for an unscheduled visit after not hearing if I’d made it back from my trip OK, which was so thoughtful since I almost hadn’t made it back thanks to a cancelled flight and then getting bumped off my rebooked flight four separate times. I don’t know how much longer I am going to live in this city, but if I’m still here by my next vacation, she’s my first point of contact and should be yours too!

Kalie was fantastic! It was a last minute booking and then we had a significantly delayed flight coming home and Kalie was super responsive and accommodating the whole time.
