Information Kala S. would like to know about your pet

Before your pet stays with me, here’s what you should know: Vaccinations & Health – All dogs must be up to date on vaccinations, including rabies, distemper, and bordetella. Please inform me of any medical conditions, allergies, or special care needs. Feeding & Medications – Bring your dog’s food to maintain their regular diet and avoid stomach upset. If your dog requires medications, I’m happy to administer them according to your instructions. Behavior & Training Needs – I work with all temperaments, including high-anxiety and behavioral cases. Please share any known triggers, fears, or past training experiences so I can create the best experience for your dog. What to Bring – Your dog’s leash, collar, food, and any comfort items (like a favorite blanket or toy) are welcome. If your dog is crate-trained, bringing their crate can help them settle in more comfortably. Safety & Supervision – Dogs are always monitored and placed in appropriate playgroups or training sessions based on their temperament and needs. Whether your dog requires extra exercise, socialization, or a structured routine, I ensure they are safe and well cared for throughout their stay. If you have any questions or special requests, let me know—I want to make your dog’s stay as smooth and stress-free as possible!

A typical day

A typical day at my kennel starts early with morning potty breaks, feeding, and health checks to ensure every dog is comfortable and ready for the day. After breakfast, I rotate dogs through supervised play or structured walks based on their needs. High-energy dogs get plenty of exercise, while anxious or shy dogs receive confidence-building activities and one-on-one attention. Midday is a time for rest and enrichment, allowing dogs to relax in a calm environment. Afternoon sessions focus on additional companionship/play, mental stimulation, or socialization, depending on each dog's needs. Evening meals are followed by a calm relax to avoid any GI upset. Before bedtime, each dog gets a final potty break and a comfortable space to rest, ensuring a peaceful and stress-free end to the day.

Pet care experience

I grew up around dogs, starting with my dad raising and training hunting hounds when I was a kid. In my teens, I worked with sled dogs, deepening my understanding of training and care. Since 2013, I’ve been raising and training Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. Specializing in high-anxiety dogs and behavioral issues. I use balanced training methods tailored to each dog’s needs, helping them build confidence and trust. I believe quality pet care should be accessible and affordable, ensuring every dog gets the guidance and attention they deserve.

Kala took wonderful care of our dog on short notice. Communication was excellent. Her kennels are spacious, even for a 120lb dog. Her family took in our pup like one of their own. Thanks a ton, Kala!

I recently kenneled my dog with Kala at Desert Oasis. They were reasonably priced and she also sent me pictures of my dog during his stay. Very happy, will use again.
