Pet-sitting with Rover is my full-time and primary job, so when I'm house-sitting it means that clients needs are my first priority. In order to sustain life as an independent contractor with zero benefits I also work a handful of other in-person gigs and two part-time jobs with nonprofits. The multiple gigs are necessary to help me afford food and other essentials after my recurring bills are paid. Being self-employed means I'm usually booked all day every day, back to back jobs, lots of driving, nearly no "days off" (plus I still have to respond to messages right away even if I'm not actively staying with someone's pets that day) and again zero benefits whatsoever. No vacation time, no sick days, no health insurance, no unemployment if I got hurt, no 401k contributions or employee discounts so for my "Standard Rate" I definitely need to be able to leave for at least 5.5 hours to be sure I can work that other 4hr gig for the week, or meet with prospective new clients, do my shopping, visit with friends, etc. I always tailor my time away based on the needs of the pets I am sitting and my calendar is usually filled up well in advance so please be clear about what you need and expect upfront!! If your pet is allowed field trips I'd love to take them for a car ride. Now if your pet needs constant care where you don't want me to leave more than 5.5 hours (or not at all) I can still accommodate with my "Puppy Rate" reflecting the extra time involved. This must agreed upon and paid for in advance. I have never once cancelled an existing booking but people have changed the terms on me last minute and that's completely unacceptable. Care instructions must be thoroughly explained in your pet's Rover profile and expectations made clear in Rover messages before we agree to the booking. Please understand: Packing my car actually takes me several hours. Unpacking takes me several hours. Cleaning up on my way out also takes me at least an hour or more depending. The days that I arrive and leave are often my busiest days. I have chronic pain and have to rest a lot. Hopefully we can both observe some quiet hours between roughly 9pm to 9am, at least that's how I try to show respect. Sometimes it's hard when clients travel to other time zones but I try not to bug people very late or very early. I appreciate when that is reciprocated. The rest of the time I usually respond right away but if I am deep in a project, out and about or taking a nap then it might take me a few hours to reply back.

Safety, trust & environment

I bring nearly a decade of professional experience with Rover alone paired with the decade and a half before while I house sat and provided pet care for family and friends. Pets have always been a passion for me. Often the pups labeled “shy” or “antisocial” warm up to me quickly. I tend to get along with new pets just like old friends and I treat my clients’ home like it’s my family’s, always trying to leave it better than I found it. Please note, literally everyone has different expectations and my goal is to make you and your pet happy as relaxed as possible, however I can ONLY meet or exceed those expectations if they're spelled out clearly and agreed to by both of us in advance. No surprises! • No kidding: ALL instructions must be in writing & on paper for both pets and the home before you leave for your trip. Simply, if it's not written down, it's not getting done! This especially goes for plants and trash day. And I LOVE doing all those little things, just write it down! • I also require full CARE INSTRUCTIONS in your pet's Rover profile. I am all about duplicity and CYA in case of emergency. Please & thank you for your cooperation! • Access: all clients need to have a realtor-style combo lock key box to leave a physical door key if you don't have one of those electronic door locks & a number code. My schedule is so busy and clients spread so far apart I don't have the ability to drive across town to get a key in advance of the booking and I'm not comfortable with a key under the mat or garage door opener under a pillow kinda thing. Both for my safety and yours I hope you understand that is a liability that is not worth the risk to me. You can purchase a combination key lockbox for ~$25 at most big box stores or Amazon and pretty easy to set and secure to your door or fence post, even if temporarily. • I always assume no guests so I would never invite someone into your home without your advance permission. • Because I'm staying in your home, there are basics that I would need to access: naturally a clean bed & linens, clean bathroom, space in your refrigerator and freezer, and use of your kitchen, coffee maker, and washer & dryer. I usually hand wash & air dry any dishes I use. • I also request that I be able to park in your garage, if you have one, for several logistical reasons, not least of which being safety for your animals while I unpack/pack my car, largely for my health and safety but also for your privacy and safety. Some of MY boundaries as a sitter: • Please let me know if Amazon or anyone else has access to your garage or key codes so a stranger doesn't give me a full panic attack. • I will NOT house-sit while anyone else is staying in your home. If you have a roommate that lives there who just doesn't wanna do it, they might be fine but I don't know them and I am not comfortable being unconscious and vulnerable around a complete stranger. • I do not drink alcohol nor use tobacco so I def don't care about any wine or expensive spirit collection. •I do NOT wish to house-sit if you smoke cigarettes. I hate them and I am EXTREMELY sensitive to cigarette smoke. I've had now two negative experiences with clients who supposedly smoke outside but when it came time to stay the home made me physically ill to be inside for any amount of time. Respectfully, cig smokers please do not send a request. • I'm very sensitive to toxic chemicals in general, specifically Febreeze, Airwicks, Bath & Bodywork's Airbulbs or any scented candles all make me very sick. If you use these please please please remove them at least the day before I arrive and put them in a bag outside until you return. If you don't, I will, so please understand this is for my health! • Please be sure that your start and end times for me are accurate in the booking details themselves before the start of your trip. If it needs to change, only so can adjust it so after you tell me what is needed it's only confirmed once I've changed it in the app. I actually rely on these to times to plan my everything day-to-day. • Traveling often means delays. I expect to need to be flexible so please message me an ETA when you are actually on your way. I do my best to always do the same for our initial meeting. • No bait and switch with expectations please. If your pet needs round the clock care and monitoring, that is extra care beyond what is included for my standard rate. Please communicate your needs AND your expectations during the meet and greet, not the night before or the day your trip starts. I've now had 3 clients tell me I could leave for errands so I agree and confirm the booking, only to commanded upon my arrival that I must not leave for any period of time and be expected cancel my other existing appointments, some of which are PAID bookings and medical appointments I waited months for. That is NOT acceptable. Round the clock care is absolutely an option if it is discussed in advance and booked at my "Puppy Rate" per calendar day. Feel free to inquire and be as detailed as possible. Being in the business so long I am very experienced in acting as something of a hospice nurse to pets in their last days or weeks when their family have unexpected or firm plans that were made well in advance and cannot be adjusted.

Information Kaitlynn E. would like to know about your pet

• Do they have any health conditions? Allergies? • Do they take any medications? • How long have your pets lived with you? • Have they ever been away from you overnight? Who were they with and how did it go? • Daily Routine; What are the pets used to? • Potty business: Is there a dog door? If not, how often do they need to go out? • How long can they be alone during errands & appointments? • Do they have a crate or any special gates? • Where do they sleep? • What's their feeding schedule? • What about walks? Allowed? Optional? Mandatory? •. Minimum and maximum treats allowed per day • Time of day do you plan for leaving/returning? • Any plants to water? Fish to feed? Mailbox key? Please note these tasks must be spelled out in writing then I'll be happy to take care of any extra details? • What day does your trash get picked up? • Where do you keep your fire extinguisher? • Will you use a key lock box or electronic passcode entry built into the door lock? If it's a regular lock you must have a key lock box! Important notes for clients about my services: • Rates are subject to change based on dates, availability, and complexity of pets needs. • My nightly rate applies per each calendar day of your booking. 4 nights is actually 5 days of my availability so that is what I charge. • FYI Rover takes 20% of a sitter's rate right off the top. Tips we keep 100%. Of that 80% independent contractors are taxed MORE than hourly or salaried workers yet receive no unemployment or medical benefits. • When you book with me you are agreeing to my strict 7-day cancellation policy because if not I would probably starve that week since most people don't book last minute and most of my clients book ~2 months in advance ;) • I do not book off-platform so PLEASE do NOT ask. Rover screens every message sent and does not play around—just the act of you asking that can put my entire livelihood in jeopardy as that is strictly against Rover's Terms of Service. Respectfully, the answer will always be NO because I love my job too much to put it at risk by breaking the rules. I carry that same respect with everything I do in my clients' homes so I hope you will understand.

A typical day

As long as there are written instructions I try to follow the pet's usual routine! Often pets will wake me if they're used to breakfast at a certain time but if not I like to sleep in with them so they really sense my relaxation and feel at ease with me. But if pets have an important medication schedule then I definitely set an alarm. Once we're up I love to enjoy a slow morning outside. Sniff, stretch, listen to the birds. If pets need or are permitted walks then we walk before it gets hot, depending on the weather. Anywhere from midday to evening is when I like to run my errands. Depending on the day I might have nothing at all or I might need to squeeze in a few things. I balance my errands and meetings around pets needs however I need to be able to plan ahead. I *can* be available for constant care so long as we agreed to that in advance of the booking at a higher rate. But standard rate assumes you have a job and errands and a life so I too have side gigs, errands & a life. I might have a 4 hour class one day or have two drop ins a day at another house. That being said I have conditions with chronic pain and fatigue so I prefer to be as efficient as I can out and about so I can spend as much time as I can cuddling with your pets!! Please note: As independent contractor, it is up to me to charge by the job, not by the hour, and it is my policy to charge the "nightly rate" per each calendar day regardless of when you schedule me to arrive or leave. Sometimes I have to manually adjust this after your request comes in. Also, not all dogs qualify for my standard rate. Constant care = puppy rate even if they're 10+ years.

Separation Anxiety Specialist!

Pet care experience

Hi new friends! Proud & thankful for NINE YEARS providing pet care with Rover! I joined in 2017 as a boarder and quickly found a loyal group of regular clients in midtown. But after the pandemic changed all our lives, I pivoted to house-sitting, drop-ins, and walking so I could continue to work with pets as my career. I love the one-on-one time these services allow me to spend with each client's fur baby (or fur family)! Now after 13 years in Tucson I'm fortunate to have made so many special relationships with pets and their owners. I still see some of my original daycare dogs here and there, but the bulk of my clients now are families with multiple cats/pets or "pandemic puppies" who grew up with their humans working from home so now the pets need someone around most of the day but also nap well if no one's around for a few hours. I'm always patient and flexible with the different needs of these “pandemic puppies” from near constant physical touch to staying busy finding new ways to keep them stimulated, ie walks, puzzle toys, supervised outdoor time, etc. My goal is for all of my pet parents to thoroughly enjoy their time away with comfort and peace of mind. Over the years I've cared for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and ages, in addition to cats, rabbits, reptiles, fish, caged birds, spiders, ferrets & other rodents, chickens, and even goats! Currently I only offer pet care services where I travel to your home to provide service but I can do either brief drop-ins, or my usual house-sitting services where I care for your pets the majority of the day and of course sleep over until your return.

My dog and three cats had yet another wonderful weekend with Kaitlynn. No signs of separation anxiety upon our return and they were clearly well cared for. Kaitlynn follows schedules extremely carefully, keeping their comfort levels in mind first and foremost. She maintains their routines, gives them lots of attention, and makes sure they feel safe and happy! Can’t recommend her enough!

Kaitlynn has been the best sitter for my golden retriever for almost 8 years now! She is always consistent, reliable, and thorough with any requests and instructions for your fur baby. I always have peace of mind that my pets are safe and cared for in her hands whenever I am away for a long period of time. I wish I could give Kaitlynn ten stars but since Rover only lets us do five …. 😊
