Safety, trust & environment

I am experienced with dogs who are difficult or nervous around strangers. I use scientifically backed, LIMA guided dog training to guide dogs through their feelings as gently as I am capable while accomplishing learning. In any case, I like to engage with dogs in a way that's most comfortable for them. Each dog is different! I am not comfortable taking unfamiliar dogs off leash outside of the home or yard for safety reasons, but I am happy to work on this skill with them if requested!

Information Kaitlyn H. would like to know about your pet

I am comfortable working with difficult dogs and happy to follow and any all protocol related to them, or work on socialization if you'd like.

A typical day

Nosework games, walks, dog park visits (if appropriate), swimming, and tricks are all fun things we'll do! We also may go to the beach for fun!

Reactive/aggressive dog trainer

Pet care experience

My name is Kaitlyn, and I'm a dog trainer in the Grays Harbor area. I have been successfully working with owners to rehabilitate fearful and/or reactive dogs for almost a decade now. I have also been a competitive dog agility instructor for 7 years. My own dog is Oakley, a Miniature American Shepherd, and he helps me with fearful or reactive dog clients by being a neutral dog with great communication skills. Before becoming a dog trainer full time, I worked at a dog daycare in Mukilteo for 3 years. It was a great experience and gave me a lot of knowledge about dog behavior and handling large groups of dogs. I compete in seven different dog sports with my own dogs, but we love agility and flyball most.

I would highly recommend Kaitlyn to care for your pet in any situation. Kaitlyn cares deeply for all dogs and feels that training and safe behavior is best for animals in her care and owners alike. She has dogs of her own. Kaitlyn relates to owners in a professional and respectful manner. She gives owners and pets confidence that she can handle hard and easy situations.

I had Kaitlyn watch my two cats - Caelum and Sherbet - for three days. Both my cats have special needs with their diets and maintaining clean air for Caelum's lung condition, and Kaitlyn kept me updated on their conditions and moods throughout the long weekend. Things went without any hiccups! Would absolutely have her care for my sweeties again,

Kaitlyn is an excellent trainer and sitter. What resonates with me the most is her training philosophy. She always approaches training opportunities by looking at the situation from the dog's point of view so that their needs are met.
