I currently work full-time on a hybrid schedule, with 2 days in-office per week (usually Wednesday/Thursday, where available hours at morning/night would adjust). My best availability to care for/visit pets on weekdays generally includes: anytime prior to 8:30am (7am for in-office days), anytime after 5:30pm (7pm for in-office days), and mid-day visits pending distance/location and availability. However, I am happy to coordinate on an individual basis pending my work schedule and figure out a plan that best fits your pet's needs! On weekends I am flexible.

Safety, trust & environment

In your home I will happily care for/spend time with your pet with the goal of gaining trust and approaching with patience and compassion. I understand that a lot of pets get nervous or anxious around new people, so it's very important to me that I don't cause any distress and let them lead with curiosity to be comfortable. For more extraverted pets, I'll make sure to spend a lot of time playing with/giving attention in addition to regular care, and for more introverted pets, I'll spend time allowing them to approach me and gain comfortability inside their home.

Information Kaitlin A. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know of any special requests you have for your pet ahead of time. It would also be great to know about their personalities prior to meeting!

A typical day

I love to keep pets entertained by playing with them (for example indoors - lasers with cats, fishing pole style toys; dogs, playing with ball, tug-of-war, hide and seek), giving them a lot of attention (pets/scratches under the chin, on top of head, belly rubs when they want it). For spaces with yards I would be happy to play outside with pets and let some energy out.

Pet care experience

A lifelong cat lover, I've always enjoyed caring for all kinds of animals. I have been pet-sitting through Rover for almost 2 years now and have successfully taken care of dozens of cats (and some pups), leading to repeat clients and extremely satisfied pet owners. I've cared for both dogs and cats ranging in age from a few months to senior. Additionally, I have experience in administering medicine to both dogs (pill form) and cats (liquid & pills forms). I will always ensure that I'm following the schedule/care instructions left for me and keep an open line of communication! Background: My first experience caring for a pet was when my sister got her rabbit, Cinnabun, when I was 10. Over the course of her long, happy 13 years of life, I treated her as my own, learning how to clean out her litter tray, washing her lettuce, and playing with her. On sunny days, we would take her outside to hop around on a blanket. When we adopted our beloved family cat, Wally, his curiosity got the best of him and he'd stick his paws inside her cage and mess with her fur. I took the time to get the two acquainted so that he wouldn't mess with his big sister anymore. During the final few days of Cinnabun's life, I spent my time with her while my sister was away at college so that she would feel comfortable and know she was loved as she peacefully passed away from old age. Wally, our beloved family cat, lived a long & happy life until his passing in December 2024 from feline cancer. Throughout his life I consistently cared for our little guy, making sure he was well-fed, his litter box area was clean, playing with him, cuddling with him, and making sure he knew just how loved he is, when living at home and even after moving out. In his final weeks I consistently visited home to help care for him, including spoon-feeding him, administering medication, and making sure he felt safe, comfortable, and loved up until his passing. Most of my pet-care experience is with cats - including, of course, Wally, in addition to my sister's Tuxedo cat, aptly named Tux, and the newest cat addition to my life, my friend's kitten Cannoli (my furry god-daughter). Over the course of the past 12 years I've consistently cared for cats, including the day-to-day cat care with feeding, litter scooping, nail clipping, and playing, as well as post-surgery care on a few occasions (Wally's neuter/a separate stomach surgery, and Cannoli's spaying) which required administering medication, assisting in using the litter box, keeping the space extra clean, and an extra gentle touch with the pets. I've cared for Cannoli on several occasions while her mom was out of town, building our bond and increasing her sense of trust with me. Within the past few years, I've experienced dog-sitting with Nala, my favorite hyper Golden Retriever, and her big (small) rabbit brother, Pluto. On several occasions I've cared for Nala and Pluto for an extended amount of time while their parents were away, making sure they always had fresh food and water, playing with them, keeping their spaces clean (Pluto can make a big mess for such a little bunny), and particularly for Nala, taking her for multiple walks per day, playing with her outside in the yard, keeping a consistent bathroom break schedule, and giving her extra cuddles at night while we watch TV. My main priority with each visit has been to maintain their regular schedules and reduce any stress around their parents being away. In Nala's case, extra cuddles and the occasional pup-cup does the trick.

Kaitlin went truly above and beyond for us. During this visit she wasn’t feeling well and couldn’t drive, yet instead of canceling, she arranged for a family member to bring her so our cats would still be cared for. We were incredibly grateful for the extra effort and thoughtfulness she showed. Kaitlin has demonstrated her dedication and commitment time and again, and we feel very lucky to have her caring for our cats. We trust her completely and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter.

Our cats absolutely adore Kaitlin — and honestly, so do we! She makes leaving them behind almost guilt-free, because we know they’re spending time with their favorite big sitter. 🐾
