Pet care experience
Calm, attentive one-to-one dog care
I previously had my own Fox Terrier and have many years of experience living with and caring for dogs. When he was young, I undertook six months of structured training with Applied Canine Behaviourist and professional dog trainer Julie Hindle. The experience gave me a good understanding of canine behaviour and body language, and taught me the importance of calm, confident and consistent handling. I now regularly walk and care for dogs for friends, including having dogs stay with me for several weeks at a time. I enjoy getting to know each dog's individual character and adapting my approach to their temperament, age and needs. I live on my own without pets or children, so I can offer visiting dogs a quiet environment with plenty of individual attention.

Schedule
I work independently and have a flexible daily routine, so I can adapt walks and care around a dog's usual schedule. I enjoy walking and spending time outdoors, and having a dog with me fits naturally into my day. When a dog stays with me, I am able to give them plenty of company and attention throughout the day.

I take time to understand each dog's normal routine, temperament and boundaries, and aim to keep their care as familiar and consistent as possible. I pay close attention to body language and behaviour, particularly when meeting other dogs or encountering unfamiliar situations. I also have hands-on experience with basic grooming, including brushing, coat care, nail trimming and general hygiene, and am comfortable handling dogs calmly during grooming.
A typical day
I enjoy giving dogs purposeful walks with plenty of opportunity to explore, sniff and engage with their surroundings. I adapt the length, pace and activity to each dog's age, energy and personality, whether that means an energetic walk or a gentler outing with an older dog. At home, there is time for play, company and rest according to their usual routine. I also enjoy photography, so your dog may well have a little photo session along the way!

Please let me know how they behave around other dogs and people, their lead and recall behaviour, feeding routine, any anxieties or triggers, medication or health requirements, and anything else that helps them feel comfortable and settled. I also appreciate knowing any particular habits or preferences that make your dog themselves! Every dog has its own character, and knowing these things beforehand helps me provide care that feels familiar and consistent for them.
