Caring animal lover seeks furry pets to look after
I retired in February 2025 after working in the NHS and private healthcare sector for over 35 years as a speech and language therapist / service manager. My career enabled me to work around the world in a wide range of settings and with some amazing people. I am now wanting to start a new chapter in my life which will allow for flexibility of working and will tap into my passion for animals and nature. My years as a therapist and manager means that I have many transferable skills, knowledge and qualities which I believe fit well into the role as a pet sitter and boarder. My love for animals started when I was a child when we had guinea pigs, tortoises and fish. Over the years, I have looked after family dogs and cats and used to walk an elderly lady’s dog when I was a volunteer for the Cinnamon Trust. Last year, I looked after a wonderful 12-year-old Border Terrier for 2 months at my house while his owners were abroad. This was an amazing experience and confirmed to me of my love of animals and my desire to pursue a career in pet sitting. I am a car driver / owner and have an up-to-date DBS. I am trained in basic life support, moving and handling, infection control and food safety and handling. I have recently completed a diploma in ‘Pet Sitting and Dog Walking’ provided by Reed Courses and ‘Dog first aid and CPR’ course with distinction provided by UKRLP. Licensed with North Tyneside Council (The Animal Welfare Regulations 2018): Licence Number 25/0987/ANIMAL

Ratings and reviews
Julie looked after our beloved dogs, a Cocker Spaniel and a miniature Dachshund, for 11 nights while we enjoyed a much-needed family holiday abroad. Julie was absolutely fantastic! Our dogs are quite needy and require that extra bit of attention, and Julie confidently cared for both of them, giving them all the love, attention and reassurance they needed. She sent us daily updates and lovely photos of their adventures and trips out, which was wonderful for us to see while we were away. Knowing that our dogs were having their own bespoke holiday too really helped us relax and enjoy our time away, knowing they were happy, settled and in such good hands. We honestly couldn’t have asked for anyone better to look after them and would highly recommend Julie to anyone looking for someone caring, trustworthy and reliable. ❤️

We couldn’t have asked for a better person to look after Daphne! This was the first time we’d left her for longer than a night, and from the moment we dropped her off we felt completely confident that she was safe, happy and having a lovely time. Julie kept us updated throughout the week with lots of photos and messages of their trips out, which was so reassuring and lovely to see while we were away. It was clear from the photos and when we picked her up that Daphne had really bonded with Julie and had thoroughly enjoyed her stay. We’re so grateful for the care & attention Julie gave her, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her. Thank you so much for looking after Daphne! 🐾❤️

Julie was absolutely fantastic ! Looked after Fliss and Frida with such care and attention to detail. We felt happy and confident leaving our beloved dogs in her care. Julie kept us updated as the boarding progressed which reassured us and was very much appreciated.

Julie looked after my 1 year old pup today for a settling in visit and it went really well. She kept me updated throughout with messages and photos, which was really reassuring. She played with her toys and took her to the beach for a walk. I felt very happy and comfortable leaving my dog with Julie and would definitely recommend her.

First time stay over for our boys, we did not need to worry, our boys were well taken care of. Really good communication to let us know they had settled in well, slept all night, and had their toast for breakfast 😀 no worries at all. Thank you 💚 🐾 🐾

Would highly recommend Julie, first time I have used a dog sitter instead of the kennels and am so pleased I did. Maggie settled and Julie sent regular updates, photos and videos. Will definitely use her for my dog sitting needs in the future.

Schedule
Since retiring in February 2025, I am now free to concentrate on establishing myself as a professional pet sitter / dog walker and have the flexibility to be able to do this.
Where your pet will stay
Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I live in a 3 bedroomed house which has an enclosed and secure backyard. The downstairs floors are wooden. I am aware of the importance of ensuring a safe and secure environment for a pet which provides the correct levels of physical and mental stimulation for the individual. Liaising with the owner about their pet's care needs, routines and behaviours are key to ensuring a happy and safe pet.
A typical day
I am an enthusiastic, active person and inquisitive person who likes to have fun. Depending on your pets needs / preferences, I can adjust activities to provide the best experience possible. This could include: - walks in different settings. I am fortunate to live near the beach and close to lots of open spaces and beautiful countryside - indoor / outdoor play - if appropriate provide opportunities to meet and socialise with my extended family's pets. My sister who lives nearby has a lovely cockerpoo Daisy who is very sociable. - lots of cuddles and attention
