Caring animal lover seeks furry pets to look after
I retired in February 2025 after working in the NHS and private healthcare sector for over 35 years as a speech and language therapist / service manager. My career enabled me to work around the world in a wide range of settings and with some amazing people. I am now wanting to start a new chapter in my life which will allow for flexibility of working and will tap into my passion for animals and nature. My years as a therapist and manager means that I have many transferable skills, knowledge and qualities which I believe fit well into the role as a pet sitter and boarder. My love for animals started when I was a child when we had guinea pigs, tortoises and fish. Over the years, I have looked after family dogs and cats and used to walk an elderly lady’s dog when I was a volunteer for the Cinnamon Trust. Last year, I looked after a wonderful 12-year-old Border Terrier for 2 months at my house while his owners were abroad. This was an amazing experience and confirmed to me of my love of animals and my desire to pursue a career in pet sitting. I am a car driver / owner and have an up-to-date DBS. I am trained in basic life support, moving and handling, infection control and food safety and handling. I have recently completed a diploma in ‘Pet Sitting and Dog Walking’ provided by Reed Courses and ‘Dog first aid and CPR’ course with distinction provided by UKRLP. Licensed with North Tyneside Council (The Animal Welfare Regulations 2018): Licence Number 25/0987/ANIMAL

Julie looked after my 1 year old pup today for a settling in visit and it went really well. She kept me updated throughout with messages and photos, which was really reassuring. She played with her toys and took her to the beach for a walk. I felt very happy and comfortable leaving my dog with Julie and would definitely recommend her.

First time stay over for our boys, we did not need to worry, our boys were well taken care of. Really good communication to let us know they had settled in well, slept all night, and had their toast for breakfast 😀 no worries at all. Thank you 💚 🐾 🐾

Would highly recommend Julie, first time I have used a dog sitter instead of the kennels and am so pleased I did. Maggie settled and Julie sent regular updates, photos and videos. Will definitely use her for my dog sitting needs in the future.
Julie looked after Dixie for us while we took a short trip and we are absolutely delighted with the outstanding care that was taken of our precious pup. Dixie enjoyed some lovely walks, lots of interaction - even enjoying a Burns Night supper. We are very lucky to have met Julie and would recommend her without hesitation to anyone needing a caring dog sitter. Thank you so much Julie!!

Second time Thea has stayed with Julie and we continue to be full of gratitude and calm at how well our pup is cared for. It’s also lovely to see Julie and Thea’s relationship grow as they get to know each other better. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Julie. Thank you so much

This was Dixie’s second stay with Julie and she had a really lovely time! We are so happy with the care Julie offers our pup - we could not recommend Julie more highly!!

Schedule
Since retiring in February 2025, I am now free to concentrate on establishing myself as a professional pet sitter / dog walker and have the flexibility to be able to do this.
Where your pet will stay
Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I live in a 3 bedroomed house which has an enclosed and secure backyard. The downstairs floors are wooden. I am aware of the importance of ensuring a safe and secure environment for a pet which provides the correct levels of physical and mental stimulation for the individual. Liaising with the owner about their pet's care needs, routines and behaviours are key to ensuring a happy and safe pet.
A typical day
I am an enthusiastic, active person and inquisitive person who likes to have fun. Depending on your pets needs / preferences, I can adjust activities to provide the best experience possible. This could include: - walks in different settings. I am fortunate to live near the beach and close to lots of open spaces and beautiful countryside - indoor / outdoor play - if appropriate provide opportunities to meet and socialise with my extended family's pets. My sister who lives nearby has a lovely cockerpoo Daisy who is very sociable. - lots of cuddles and attention
