Availability

I love animals. I have a 3 yr. old yellow Labrador myself! I travel often in my RV and we make great travel partners often stopping at dog parks 2-3 times a day on our adventures. Beau would love to have playmates! Currently I am mobile in the Western AZ / Southeastern CA area. I will come to you. I can stay as long as you need for your pet care - up to 2+ weeks if needed.

Safety, trust & environment

I can only provide mobile pet/house sitting. I am unable to pet sit in the home I live in. I am a recently retired nurse. I am trained not only in human CPR, but I also have dog and cat CPR training. I have given pets medication, induced vomiting -per instructions while on the phone with a vet tech (after dog ate 1 1/2 lbs of bing cherries - pits and all. Happy ending! :). When I go into a home I find myself scanning countertops and floors for potential hazards for pets - things like medications, foods, hot boiling water on stovetop with handles pointing out, etc... I am constantly monitoring for potential dangers. Sometimes things happen though, unfortunately, that can't be avoided and that's when first aid, CPR, poison control line, and Vet info need to all be available and handy. I ask that all instructions be written down and text/emailed to me 24 hours prior. That way if I have any questions, they can be answered before you leave on your relaxing worry-free vacation!

Information Julie P. would like to know about your pet

Breed, Age, Allergies, Medications, Diet, Usual demeanor, any aggressive tendencies/history of biting or attacking humans or other animals. ***Please note, I do not provide care for any animals who have had any history of aggressive behavior towards humans, or other dogs.*** Also need to know pet's baseline routine for the day/night, Name and phone number of 24 hr vet. Poison control telephone number. Name and number of 2 personal fiends or family contacts nearby in case of pet emergency. ***PS: HOUSESITTING IS FOR CARE OF YOUR PETS. If there are things you'd like to request be included for the care of your home and/or property (watering plants, grass, etc) this might be possible, please ask, and these items would be charged separately.***

A typical day

First thing is outside for potty break. Next is breakfast and fresh water. An "after breakfast" potty break is next. While outside, after the tummy settles, it's a great time to get in some games - maybe tug, or a little fetch. This also is a great time for a nice walk. My own dog gets a snack around lunch time, and yours too if you approve. Another potty break. Sometimes a little nap in the early afternoon. Maybe some entertaining or relaxing Doggy TV. I also really like the relaxation music for dogs on YouTube. I've noticed it works very well to relax my Lab at times when needed. Then outside again for potty break and a few fetch games. Another walk maybe. A chewy toy or bone (only with your approval) is given if it is ok with owner at whenever time they want. Water is checked frequently and filled. I can provide light pet brushing outside if needed also.

Pet care experience

Please note*** I cannot board pets where I live, all pet sitting (days and overnight) is done at your residence. Hello! I've had dogs and cats all my life. I am the type to keep my dogs active whether it be playing fetch in the yard or throwing the stick in the lake for them to fetch. I believe in lots of play toys and chewys so they never get bored. I also understand the dog who might be more calm, maybe a little shy and likes time alone, and that is very understandable. I am a retired nurse and know pretty well the signs and symptoms of pain or discomfort. I understand the importance of proper nutrition and availability of fresh water. I lost my 14 yr. old lab to old age 2 years ago, and just recently got a new yellow lab puppy here in March. I really missed having a travel companion! I'm a unique pet/house sitter in that I travel in my beautiful Canadian Roadtrek Campervan and can house "watch" while taking care of your pets. I do not need to stay in your home. Any additional duties other than "watch" your house can be negotiated- like water a few houseplants, etc. I do ask that you provide a household electric (120V) outside plug in. My small RV uses approx. $2-$3 per day of electricity.

Julie is phenomenal! She communicates with you while you are away, sends photos and daily updates. Sarge loved his time with her and Beau. She is accommodating and takes care of little things that come up. Our experience with her was exactly what we wanted for our old guy. We were boondocking in the desert, and she parked her rig right next to us. Sarge was able to be in his own "home", but he enjoyed staying with her in her rig. We would definitely recommend her! She has a rig she can "live" in while she takes care of your pets in their own home. Well worth her weight in gold!
