Disponibilité

I am a full-time dog sitter, so I spend all day every day with the dogs in my care. I am a firm believer that all dogs need to off-leash time to be fully fulfilled. So between my house in Lakeland, The Outback at Shelby Farms (one of the top-rated dog parks in the country), and Overton Park, the dogs and I go on lots of outings. I have seatbelts and harnesses, water for the dogs, and a first aid kit in the truck.

Since we love adventures, it’s important that your dog has good recall. I have a GPS tracker for each guest for added safety. We consider the dogs in our care part of the family, so unless otherwise instructed we let the dogs choose where they sleep (spoiler alert - we have a king size bed for a reason!) I have a crate for each dog in the event it is needed, but it’s rare that I crate a dog. I feed each dog separately, and I use stainless steel or ceramic food and water bowls that I run through the dishwasher regularly. I also have an automatic waterer outside and inside so the dogs have access to fresh water at all times. My partner Matt works from home, so when I am out and about there is still always someone here. Boarding: We consider the dogs that stay with us part of the family. Dogs are welcome on the couches and beds here, and I have an assortment of dog bed options in each room.

Informations que Julie M. aimerait connaître au sujet de votre animal domestique

Our house revolves around dogs - we have our own and we also foster. Our house is busy - we play hard and we don’t mind getting dirty. Sometimes it’s loud and sometimes it’s rowdy. Our daily hustle and bustle could be overwhelming to a nervous nelly or a shy-guy senior, but we have a lot of fun and I love watching the timid ones come out of their shells - romps in the woods have the obvious physical benefits, but they help a dog build their confidence, too. I have had pups come here that were too nervous to walk up the front steps but after a few days (if that!) they were leaping over logs and climbing hills and swimming. BOARDING - I require a copy of vaccination records for every dog and cat that comes to my house (boarding and day care). - Your pet needs to be current on their flea/tick medication as we often spend a lot of time in the woods. -Please have a collar on your dog that has a current rabies tag and a tag with your contact information. -Please inform me of any dietary restrictions as I keep an assortment of benebone-type chews around and usually have a pocket full of treats. I need to know if there is something you don't want your pup to have. - Please pre-measure and pack each meal in separate labeled ziploc bags (and include some extras, just in case). This ensures you pack enough food for the stay. - Please label any food, treats, supplements, or medications with the name, dosage, and time of day it's given. - I have plenty of bowls and slow feeders that I run through the dishwasher’s sanitize cycle, beds, crates, toys, etc, so you don’t need to bring any of those things unless you just want to send something familiar from home.

Une journée type

We do a lot of outdoor exploring and playing. I do tracking games, utilize scatter feeding and puzzle feeders for many meals, and regularly play tug/keep away/search. I do leashed sniff-walks for seniors (I have one) and younger dogs that might not necessarily be ready for off-leash time yet. I often have helping hands with me - my daughters help at home and sometimes they come along for walks and drop-ins. They are 11 and 13 and they know to let pets come to them. They are professional cuddlers. We completely understand and respect that every pet and every household is different, so if you aren’t comfortable with them accompanying me on home drop-in visits or walks, just let me know. When I do drop-in visits, I don’t like to rush in and rush out. We will play or cuddle or whatever it is I am there to do, and when I can I will often I spend extra time going over my calendar, etc just so your pet isn’t alone. Especially when it comes to shy cats - they almost always eventually come out and investigate if I stick around and quietly update my planner or draw etc.

Wooded trails and creeks to swim in

Expérience en matière de services dédiés aux animaux de compagnie

I have a certification in Cat and Dog First Aid from the American Red Cross. I have over 25 years of experience with dogs, cats, horses, chickens, goats, cows, sheep, rabbits, reptiles, rodents, pigs, and fish! I have rescued and fostered dogs (and cats, and horses, and even one chicken that we named Pumpkin and let sleep in the house!) so I have experience with a wide variety of species, ages and personalities. I recently moved to the Crosstown area, so for anyone visiting Memphis, I am less than 10 minutes from Beale Street and 15 minutes from Graceland. We just had a new fence built and we have a dog waste cleaning service that comes three times a week. I also have a property in Lakeland with a couple hundred wooded acres with creeks to play in, swimming holes, hills to run, trails to track, squirrels to chase….muddy paws are no big deal at my house! When we visit there we have a pool for when it’s hot, tons of toys, and a small little creek that runs through the yard for playing in.

I was very nervous leaving my five-month-old puppy for the first time, and I arranged for Julie to stay with her at my house. To prepare, we did a meet and greet plus two drop-in visits that I paid for, and I left detailed instructions. During the first part of my trip, however, communication was lacking, and the sitter seemed distracted. She also was not present at my house in the early morning hours when she should have been with my puppy. It wasn’t and still isn’t clear if she actually stayed at my house as directed (several signs suggest no), and other instructions weren’t followed. I just did not feel comfortable with the situation, and I ended up changing my travel plans to come home early. After that, she was somewhat more communicative and sent a few pics. I do think she understands animals, but I get the feeling she’s stretched between multiple clients.

Julie is AMAZING!! We’ve never left our dog with anyone but family - she tends to be reactive and takes a long time to warm up to anyone. Julie understood exactly how to handle Nora and respect her boundaries while also providing excellent care and keeping us fully up to date. She will definitely be our first choice in booking future care for any of our pets. Thank you Julie!!

I have relied on Julie multiple times to take care of my cats, and she has developed such a great relationship with them. Leaving my girls is always the biggest stress for me when I travel, but she makes it easy. You won't need to worry about your pets while Julie is caring for them!

Julie is a fantastic day and long weekend companion. She has taken such good care of our high need bird dog and welcomed him into her family. Would recommend her care any time and any length.
