I work from home and work part time, so I am home all the time Mon-Fri. At weekends I tend to have personal commitments/be out of the house.

I have a securely fenced garden, and I only do on-leash walks. Your dog will have access to the entire house unless you prefer me to keep to your own rules eg not allowed upstairs, not allowed on furniture. Happy to accomodate a crate it your pet feels secure in one.

Information Julie H. would like to know about your pet
What is your dog's normal routine - I'll try to match that as far as I can. Your house rules - allowed upstairs, on beds, on sofas?
A typical day
Weekdays we'll be home during the day. My office is at the back of the house with patio doors opening onto the garden, and I typically have these open all the time unless it's raining, so your dog will be welcome to come and go between the house and garden as they please. If they like company I'll put their blanket or bed beside my desk! I take breaks during the day for a bit of garden time and some dog-fussing. After work we can go for an evening walk.

Dog care in a comfy friendly home
Pet care experience
Hi - I'm Julie. I know from personal experience the challenges of finding the right care for a pet, especially when they are elderly or needing special treatment, so I'd like to offer the service that you need - I'm happy to customise as required. I have experience in caring for dogs that are elderly, blind, require oral medication, suffer from seizures etc. I will only board one dog (or up to 3 from the same household) at any time. I've had dogs most of my life though have not had one for the past couple of years. My 24 year old daughter (who studied Animal Management) also loves dogs, so they are guaranteed lots of attention if that's what they like. I've been a volunteer in an animal shelter, working both as an adoption councillor and as a foster home for dogs not ready to go up for adoption yet. This has included caring for litters of puppies, pregnant moms, dogs awaiting or convalescing from surgery or other treatment, and dogs too stressed to cope with the shelter environment. I'm able to administer medication or other treatments as required. I live in a house with a good size garden which has plenty of shade. I no longer have pets of my own but over the years have had dogs, chickens and guineapigs. I am happy for dogs coming for day care or overnight boarding to find their preferred sleeping space in the house - kitchen, sofa, bedroom are all fine with me, or if they have their own crate we'll use that. I work from home so during the day dogs have free access to the garden plus my company, but I can't go for daytime walks; so I prefer not to take dogs that are very high energy/need a ton of walking. I'm more of a dog-strolling sort of person! For dog walking I generally walk locally - there's a nice park nearby, no need for any car travel. I'll work with you to accommodate any particular requests you may have, be it diet, treats/snacks, rules about being upstairs or on furniture, medical care etc. We are a calm, quiet non-smoking household.
Reviews

Julie was brilliant. Clive had a great day and has slept all evening (a sign of a happy dog). I really appreciate how caring and attentive Julie was in the hot weather.

Both Julie and her daughter Catherine took such wonderful care of our dog Barry. Me and my partner were extremely nervous before hand as after 5 years we have never left him with anyone other than my partners mum and he is a very anxious dog who gets worked up when around new people or a new environment. When we picked him up after a day in their care, he was so calm and relaxed, and had eaten all of his food, which never happens on instances where we go away to a cottage holiday. He often takes longer to settle. Couldn’t recommend more.

Our little Yorkiepoo was very happy with the care, he has received from Julie. We will book again gladly.

My dogs had a lovely stay with Julie for my sons pass out at Pirbright. Eye drops for my old boy wasnt a problem and my anxious Datchund was settled and happy on our return. Julie was lovely and she has an ideal set up for my 2. I definately recommend Julie and would use Julie again.
