Quiet retreat for elderly dogs
Dogs with special needs are welcome here!! Wheelchair dogs, blind dogs, diabetic dogs, etc. I have lived with dogs for most of my life and absolutely treat them like family. I've worked professionally as a doggy daycare attendant, and I am a certified pet care technician. While I enjoyed my time in the dog daycare facilities, it made me sad to see the loud, rambunctious dogs get the most attention (since they needed the most supervision), while the shy or older dogs often did not get the attention they deserved. My own dog, Cannoli, is nearly 14 years old and has had two TPLO surgeries and now has arthritis and other age-related health issues. Her special needs made me realize that there should be a place for older dogs (or younger dogs with health concerns) to relax in peace without being stressed by high-energy dogs.

Juliana as a dog sitter is the BEST decision anyone can ever make for their dog! I was quite nervous about leaving my Luna for 3 weeks as she had been a little nervous around other dogs (or so I thought), but Juliana reassured me beforehand, had an immaculate set up in the house that allowed for divided sections depending on if/which dogs need their own space, took Luna on multiple walks and to multiple parks, fed her, and sent like 5+ photos and an update EVERY single day. I cannot recommend Juliana enough, I am going to be bringing my Luna back for visits to her new second home as often as I can! Thank you, thank you, thank you Juliana!

Juliana took wonderful care of our 16yo Shihtzu Daisy who also required scheduled meds. She sent us plenty of pictures and updates that gave us a peace of mind and we were able to enjoy our time away. This is our very first Rover experience and we are so glad it was with Juliana. She has a calm and easy going presence and we look forward to booking her again. We highly recommend her for your fur baby's sitting needs. 😊

Schedule
I have a part-time job at a school, so I’ll be out of the house for 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon, Mon-Fri, but apart from that I am typically at home with the dogs. I have all school holidays off. Your pet will get 2 walks every day, morning and evening, and as much yard time as they want. We have a fenced backyard with lush grass and a covered patio. Long-term stays are welcome! I enjoy long-term stays because they give me plenty of time to get to know the dogs and earn their trust. Some dogs are uncomfortable in a new environment and may take days (or even weeks) for their real personality to come out. The longest anyone has stayed here was 5 weeks and I’m open to stays even longer than that. Bookings of 5 nights or more will get a discount.

Your dog will have a cozy home and a spacious backyard to relax and enjoy the outdoors. This is a single-story house in a residential neighborhood with a public park only half a mile away. Your dog will also be in the company of my elderly goldendoodle, Cannoli, a spayed female who is very friendly and loves other dogs. She has a comfy bed next to mine that she'd be happy to share with a friend.

A typical day
While I prefer older dogs, I’m also fine with younger dogs who have a good disposition and a low / moderate energy level. Your dog will get plenty of attention in the form of daily walks, belly rubs, cuddles, snacks, whatever they need. They may roam the house and fenced backyard as they please, with supervision. Your dog will get personalized care according to their specific needs, and as much attention as they want. I’m comfortable giving medications and adhering to dietary restrictions or other special needs. Dogs typically sleep in my room with me. I have extra dog beds, or you can bring your own. I do not use crates. If your dog is crate-trained and you’d like to bring their crate to continue their training, that’s fine.
