Pet care experience

Compassionate, experienced sitter

I’ve been caring for animals my entire life and have volunteered at shelters since I was young. I regularly foster dogs through Paws New England, so I’m experienced with dogs of all ages, temperaments, and backgrounds, including those adjusting to new environments. I also have hands-on experience with anxiety and fear-based reactivity through my own dog, which has taught me patience, structure, and how to effectively read canine body language. While I’m not a certified trainer, I’ve spent years learning and applying positive reinforcement training methods and behavior management techniques. I’ve been vegan for decades and protecting animals and ensuring their safety and comfort is something I take seriously in every aspect of my life. I treat every dog in my care with the same attention, compassion, and respect as my own.

I can’t recommend Julia enough for any pet care needs. She has a genuine love for animals and extensive hands-on experience, including volunteering with rescues and fostering animals in need. She’s especially great with dogs who require a little extra care and patience. Having cared for several rescue dogs, she’s very knowledgeable about behavior, intuitive, and always prioritizes safety and comfort. As someone who has a reactive bully breed, I’m very selective about who I trust—and she’s one of the few people I feel completely confident leaving my dog with. I know any pet in her care will be treated with the highest level of care.

Julia is an exceptional pet owner and sitter who truly goes above and beyond. Her genuine love for animals is apparent in everything she does, and she has experience caring for pets of all sizes—from small companions to large animals, including horses. She is especially skilled with challenging and reactive dogs, handling them with patience, confidence, and compassion. Julia is responsible, reliable, and someone you can fully trust to provide safe, attentive, and loving care for your pets.

I’m happy to support Julia Morrissey as she applies to join the Rover team. I’ve known Julia for several years through her volunteer work with Paws New England, a rescue I co-founded over 20 years ago. She’s incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to dog care and behavior, and just as important, she’s genuinely kind and gentle with every animal she meets. She’s fostered many dogs for us, often in challenging situations, and there has never been a single issue. I would trust her with my own dogs without hesitation. Julia is also very dependable—if she says she’s going to do something, it gets done. I’ve personally relied on her to help with various operational tasks, and she’s always been a huge help. She’s also great with social media, which I imagine would be a real asset for Rover families. If you have any questions, I’m more than happy to chat. She’s a great person and would be a wonderful addition.

Julia is a reliable and experienced pet caregiver who has spent many years looking after animals. She has cared for dogs since childhood and has raised her own rescue dog for the past 12 years. She has also volunteered extensively at animal shelters and regularly fosters dogs and puppies for a rescue organization. Julia is attentive and responsible, and she takes the time to understand each animal’s needs. In addition to her experience with dogs, she is also comfortable caring for cats. She would be a great choice for anyone looking for a dependable dog walker or pet sitter.

Safety, trust & environment

Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I live in a quiet, safe neighborhood that’s great for walks, with nearby trails and beach access for enrichment (if appropriate for your dog). I’m very mindful of each dog’s needs and temperament, especially those who may be anxious or adjusting. In my home, dogs are kept separate from my senior dog to ensure a calm, low-stress environment for everyone. I take introductions, boundaries, and routines seriously and always prioritize a safe, structured, and positive experience.
