I work a hybrid job alternating in-office and remote workdays in JP. My husband works fully remote, so one or both of us are always home. I have flexibility with my schedule and am happy to see if I can accommodate your needs for walks, drop-ins, and housesitting. My usual hybrid schedule is Mon/Wed/Thur in-office and Tues/Fri remote, but it can vary depending on the season. I have a car and easy access to the T, let's chat and see if your location and our schedules align. I have many references after sitting in this area the past 4 years and can connect you if interested!

If your dog is pet friendly, we're happy to board them in our home. We have a fenced backyard, access to parks and walking trails, and can gate off sections of our home if needed for your pet (i.e. for potty-training). We have two extra large wire crates we can set up if your pup is crate-trained, to save you the hassle of hauling over yours. Our two dogs Sasha and Lucy are very used to foster pups and clients staying over, they're friendly and easygoing. Lucy is a speed-demon who loves to play chase! Sasha is a sweet senior and always unfazed and unbothered. Our cat Sagwa is very self-reliant and doesn't mind strange dogs, if your dog isn't cat-friendly she's perfectly content to keep to herself. I'm always happy to stay over and housesit if that's more comfortable or necessary for your pet. During the workday I just need access to wifi.

Information Julia L. would like to know about your pet
Please reach out if it seems like you, your pet and I could be a great fit! I like to know temperament and preferences, diet and medication schedule, any reactivity or triggers, preferred commands, and any special needs before sitting so I can best accommodate. Meet and greets ahead of first booking with new clients are always appreciated to ensure we're a good match, and especially necessary if you are interested in boarding your dog at my home so we can confirm a safe match with my pets.
A typical day
I'm an outdoorsy person and really enjoy taking the dogs to the beach, parks, river walk, everywhere! My dogs are Urban Canine Good Citizens, so I'm experienced with helping dogs navigate urban environments as well as nature. I'm also always down to hang out on the couch with laid-back pups like my older girl Sasha. With reactive dogs, I have wide experience and very comfortable using safety tools such as prong collars and head halters. I'm committed to consistency with any training or commands your dog already knows or is learning. My beagle loves to be challenged, so I own a lot of puzzle toys and snuffle mats I like to bring for dogs I pet-sit. I love obedience training and scent work, if your dog is learning any commands such as on walks I'm sure to be consistent to help reinforce your training. My cat is also very curious and active, so I grow catnip and catgrass for her and like to knit her pet-safe homemade toys.

Experienced Foster Mom!
Pet care experience
Hi there! I'm a Southern transplant living in Boston with my rescue dogs Sasha and Lucy, and my dog-loving kitty Sagwa. I moved here 4 years ago to continue my work as a youth mentor, and thoroughly enjoy this little side hustle pet-sitting! I have extensive experience with rescued and family pets, after growing up volunteering for shelters and humane societies. Prior to my move to Boston I served several years as a foster parent for a rural shelter, and trained to work with reactive/traumatized animals. These skills help me support and nurture pets no matter their background! Fostering injured/disabled animals was a special passion of mine during the pandemic. Quarantine allowed me more time and space to rehabilitate many puppies, kittens, and adult dogs that needed extra support to be ready for adoption. Caring for fosters with complex medical issues gave me lots of experience administering medication and accommodating special needs. Now that I'm in the city, I'm loving looking after neighborhood pets. Especially those with unique needs that require someone experienced, patient, and understanding!

Reviews

Julia is a phenomenal dog sitter! She watched both our puppy and senior dog while we were out of town and was so good with them. Julia is very communicative and considerate. Anyone would be lucky to work with her

Julia has been patient with both our reactive dog and with our anxiety. We're so glad to have found her!

Julia has been helping us with our pup for a few years now, and we truly feel so lucky to have found her! Our dog absolutely adores her and gets so excited every time she comes to the door. It gives us such peace of mind knowing he's in her care.

Julia took care of our dog for the first time for four days. We were able to meet beforehand to make sure everything was a good fit. From the moment we got out of the car it was clear she knows dogs. The dogs all got along great and Julia was wonderful as well! She sent multiple updates each day we were away with pictures and anecdotes. It was clear Mica had a great time, too. A great place to stay - your dog will be in good hands.
