Certified Stellar Tushy Scratchies!

Hi! My name is Julia and I love dogs! I grew up with small dogs, but as an adult, I realized that the big mutts are really more my "type." I've been fostering with local rescues since 2017 and have worked with all types of breeds, sizes, ages, and behaviors. Because I didn't have a dog of my own, I usually took the "tougher" pups, but that doesn't mean I lost my taste for the easier ones! haha I recently "foster failed" with a sweet, gentle pup named Squish, who might even beat me in how much she loves dogs. All dogs-big, small, shy, reactive. Now, Squish and I are on a journey to meet and play with as many pups as possible. She loves to join me on walks, sits, and drop-in, and I'm currently only accepting new sleepover clients who are ok with that. My background: While living in South Carolina, I was a part of a program called "Lucky Dog" that prepared shelter dogs for the domestic life. I house-trained, kennel-trained, and socialized about a dozen dogs over a 9 month span. I've continued to foster dogs ever since, fostering over 100 dogs (and only "foster failing" with two!), ranging from shy to spicy, young to old, small to large. I'm a pro at slow intros, respecting boundaries, and giving great booty scratchies. If you think your furry friend would get along with me (and my very friendly girl, Squish!), please reach out! I'm available and ready to spend some time with the happiest creatures on this planet!

Julia was perfect! She sent a ton of updates throughout the day, I felt super comfortable leaving my rescue pup with her. My dog seemed to have so much fun with walks, car rides, snuggles and lots of play time. She was also good about giving him his daily medication as well. Would recommend to anyone and will be using her again!

Julia is by far the best sitter we’ve ever had. Benny can be slow to get to know people, but with Julia he took to her instantly. He also did great with her pup Squish! And we got plenty of updates, including pics and videos, of the pups all weekend. She also is extremely respectful staying in our home and it was just as we left it. HIGHLY recommend her!!!!

I have so many good things to say, I don’t even know where to start!! From the moment I met Julia I knew she was going to be a great fit for my boys. I have a very high energy and needy cattle dog Finn as well as a fear reactive skiddish rescue Milo. Julia took the time and had so much patience with my fear reactive guy. He started to bond with her on day 1. She took the time to come back to my home multiple times before the trip to continue to gain Milo’s trust. She was so attentive to them while I was gone and sent constant updates and pictures. She really put my mind at ease and I was able to relax on my trip rather than worrying about if my boys were okay. My flight got delayed on the day of my return and I panic texted her and without hesitation she stopped back over to feed my boys and walk them and hangout with them for a bit since I was unsure when I would get back. She is an amazing person, amazing with dogs, and I am so lucky to have found her. 100% recommend for everyone to use her, especially if you have dogs with special needs because she will give them all the extra love and attention they need

Schedule

I currently work from home and have the flexibility to visit your pups during my lunch breaks or after I've finished my work for the day. If boarding in your home, I'll be around all day and I'm happy to take on pups who need more frequent potty breaks or medical attention. Because I work from home, I'm not the best candidate for a high-energy dog who needs constant or frequent exercise and enrichment.

Non-smoking household
Has 1 dog
No children present

Dogs allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 2-4 hours

Safety, trust & environment

Safety is my number one concern. That means leashed walks, checking doors before opening them, and ensuring that your pup feels secure, both on our walks and when in my presence. My pup, Squish, would love to join on adventures (or naps) we take. She's great at getting dogs to come out of their shell and does a great job matching her play style to theirs. I am always incredibly tuned into behaviors and will keep both/all pups safe!

Pets

A typical day

It obviously depends on the pup, but we can either engage in mental stimulation via a fun sniffari or by doing some simple training games. I love long walks and outdoor adventures. We'll have plenty of opportunities to learn, play, and of course, if your pup is a cuddler, we will absolutely cuddle!

I like to know dogs' triggers, if there are any, such as bikes, skateboards, thunder, etc... I also like to know how your pup gets along with other animals, so I can be sure to avoid any non-friends on walks!
