Our experience with Julia was nothing short of extremely disappointing, and I’m writing this because I genuinely would not want another cat owner to experience the same. We booked Julia to look after our five indoor cats. From the beginning, we were told that on two days her husband would cover for her. What we were not told was that, in the end, her husband would be responsible for around 20 feeds over 10 days, and that on multiple occasions their 14-year-old son was actually left alone in our home to feed the cats. One of our cats has a skin condition and was receiving medication. Every time we asked if he was okay, we were told he was fine. When we returned, however, he had lost a significant amount of fur, looked extremely unwell and had become skin and bones. Although the medication had apparently been given, his deterioration was never communicated to us. Another of our cats has a medical dietary requirement and is on hydrolysed food because he cannot digest normal protein. When we came home, he was covered in faeces — including his legs, bottom and tail — and there had been no attempt to clean him or inform us that this had happened. We had specifically instructed that the kitchen door must ALWAYS remain closed because the cats’ food was kept on the counters. This was repeatedly left open, allowing the cats into the kitchen and then into the conservatory. On one occasion, one of our cats was accidentally locked in the conservatory for around 12 hours with no food, litter or access back into the house. We only discovered this late at night and had to contact our neighbours to help. On another occasion, the main front door was not secured properly and one of our cats managed to open it. All five indoor cats got outside and were missing for around five hours. Our house is directly on a main road, and our neighbours had to urgently search for them. Some were found under cars and others roaming outside. Thankfully, nothing happened to them, but it could have ended very differently. There were also multiple occasions where the 14-year-old was alone in our home. He was responsible and clearly tried his best, but he was not the person we had booked to care for our cats. On one occasion he locked himself out and had to contact us through the Ring camera while we were at an important appointment. We also reviewed the home footage afterwards and were extremely upset to see that there was virtually no interaction, affection or attention given to our cats during the visits. Most importantly, we have video evidence documenting these incidents, so this review is based on what we have actually seen rather than assumptions. We will absolutely never book this service again. If you have indoor cats, particularly cats with medical or dietary needs, I would strongly recommend making sure you know exactly who will be entering your home and caring for your animals before booking.

Julia is so lovely with our Yorkie Sophie. We know Sophie is in safe hands. She always comes back from walks with Julia tired and happy :) Julia is very good with contact, and very friendly and professional. Highly recommended.
