I have taken care of dogs for countless families in my neighborhood and friends for about 10 years—anything from long walks, overnight stays, vet visits, or multiple day check-ins for families on vacation. I normally establish communication and expectations with families well ahead of the commitment to ensure I’m up to speed on the schedule and standards!

Julia was amazing with our cat Grace and our frog. She made sure that Grace was well taken care of and took the time to play with her. We came home to two very happy animals.

Hi Rover! I have known Julia for many years, and she is an incredibly responsible, energetic, accomplished young person- a recent Honors College grad from JMU, too! Julia has taken care of my Husky-mix dog (who requires long walks) and large cat (who demands attention!) many, many times, and always with perfect reliability, and extra doses of sweetness and attention to them. Any pet would be lucky to be cared for by Julia!

Safety, trust & environment
I have experience watching dogs for many owners who are on vacation and ensuring their home is safe for their pet. This includes ensuring all doors are locked, a pet crate is used (if applicable), and dog food is put away securely. Many times I’ll ask families for specific instructions on what doors are safe to enter, where to store food and pet equipment, and household items like bringing in mail, if needed.

A typical day
I explore parks and nature a lot in the northern Virginia area, so I would make a point to seek out nature like that when walking dogs! There are also lots of trails like the Custis Trail, and destinations like Theodore Roosevelt Island with a lot of nature for dogs to enjoy
