Pet care experience

Big and small, I love 'em all!

In all my 30 years I haven't met an animal that hasn't made me glad I did. I'm an avid animal lover in general, but I have such a gigantic soft spot for dogs. Growing up, my parents got a brittany spaniel (Rex) and two pugs (Trekkie and Beau) whom I adored and doted on. But the second I turned 18, it was time for me to get my very own best friend. I didn't even plan getting Sampson the day I did-- but what's a girl to do? NOT stop at the mobile pet adoption?? I went just to say hi to all the cuties and out popped this little minpin/chihuahua mix from under a blanket that just stole my heart. Thirty minutes, eight forms, and a mini shopping spree in the pet supply store later, I brought my little guy home. Severely underweight and terrified of everything that wasn't me, but at least he was finally home. (and you'll be glad to hear that he has since bloomed into a spoiled little social butterfly) Along with caring for my own animals and the occasional friend's, I have five years volunteer experience at the Denver Dumb Friends League. Along with caring for the other animals in the shelter, my duties included dog walking, feeding, socializing, calming, and oral medication administration. My step father once told me something about dogs and it really stuck. Looking at one of our little sleeping pugs snoring away, he asked, "Do you know why dogs sleep so easily?" I said I didn't. And then he told me, "It's because their consciences are completely clear. No dog has ever lived with the natural intention of malice. Their souls are as close as we will ever get to pure." I believe that to be 100% true. There is very little I wouldn't do for a dog. Not just my own, I mean any and every dog. I hold them in such high respect and operate under the notion that they deserve every bit of love and attention I can muster. Which, as it turns out, happens to be a truckload.

Julia went above and beyond taking care of our sweet millie dog over christmas break. She handled curveballs (snowstorms, travel delays and power outages) like a charm. You can tell she truly cares about animals and treated millie like her own dog even in a snow storm. We love julia and you will too!

We are always a little nervous to leave our needy dog, but Julia is very calm and competent. Julia followed our instructions to care for both pet and home. We especially appreciate her responsive. We will use Julia again.

Julia is fantastic and ultra responsive. She met us for a meet and greet prior to our trip and took great care of Risley. We recommend her fully and would love to work with her again. Thanks Julia!

I'm a preschool teaching assistant so while my availability is limited during the 8-5 workday, I always have nights and weekends off! My services would work well for someone needing the occasional sitter/walker.

A typical day

I don't currently offer my home as a pet sitting location (my apartment has strict rules and my boyfriend's house just has too many dog divas already) but when friend's dogs come to stay I like to tailor our activities to meet that pup! Younger, more active dogs I take out on day trips to Red Rocks, Horsetooth Reservoir, or Flying J Ranch. Can't leave the less mobile homies out, though! Luckily my boyfriend's house in Lakewood is situated within walking distance to several neighborhood parks. Pack a couple of toys and some water and we've got the perfect outing plus the convenience of a short walk back when we tire ourselves out!

I would LOVE to know any specific training or commands that your dog knows plus any tips/tricks you use in you guys' daily routine! Also, any allergies, behavioral issues, or little quirks your animal may have would be great information for me to have so I can best care for them in a safe way!
