Peace Place for Pups

I've been caring for dogs all my life. Over the past 45 years, I have bred and raised collies and train and work with them as therapy dogs for abused children. We are retired so home most of the time. When weather permits, the dogs and I go walking in our neighborhood, a 21/2 miles route, or go to a local trail area. They go with me everywhere if it is cool enough for them to stay in the car. I have worked in a grooming shop so do all my own bathing, trimming, toenail clipping, teeth cleaning and teeth brushing. I have several grankids from 17 to 5 so the dogs get lots of kid time. We have a big fenced backyard so their other job is keeping the property squirrel free. There's lots of shade, a clean escape-free pen under the deck and a sandbox for them to dig and lounge in. I've had experience working in a kennel and at a dog groomer. My husband and I are retired so we are busy but usually one of us is home most of the time. We come and go during a typical day but usually not more than a couple hours. We also have other arrangements to be sure the dogs are let out and fed in an emergency. We have now been working for DOG VACAY for 3 years and are completely sold on home boarding. The dogs are so much more relaxed and peaceful than kennel boarding and receive much more individual attention. They are not restrained and have access to indoor and outdoor "just like home" freedom. After the first few visits, they seem to accept us as their "home away from home" and most get over their first day stress. Having worked in both, we highly recommend home boarding over kenneling.

Judith took very good care of our 10.5-year-old dog while we went on 3-day road trip. Judith is knowledgeable about many large breeds and observant of dog's individual needs. We did a meet-and-greet with her dogs and my dog prior which I appreciated. If you have any specific needs she will accommodate or let you know if she can accommodate. My dog has had surgery (2 ACL repairs) so we have to be mindful of his portion of feedings and limit running. It a bit hard to control his running and jumping especially when he sees a squirrel, so I requested that he spend 15-20 min outside during potty breaks rather than 30 -40 min outside, so he rests between breaks. Judith was able to accommodate. The next day he was up and moving around easily so he had a good amount of activity and not too much that he is too sore to move the next day. We will reach out to Judith for our next trip. Highly recommend.

Judith and her husband did a wonderful job of taking care of Teddy! They have a great setup for boarding dogs and my dog loved playing with their two collies. I would certainly board with Judith again.

Judith took wonderful care of Leo and kept us completely at ease while we were away. She sent periodic updates, which helped us feel connected, and it was clear from the photos and messages that Leo was happy and relaxed in her care. We are very grateful for how attentive and kind she was with him and would happily recommend her to anyone looking for a loving and reliable pet sitter.

Judith was great, her space was very welcoming and her dogs were playful and bagel. Enjoyed running around with them. Great communication and also told me a little bit more about my dog, which is very mixed. Great place to board your family pet!

Non-smoking household
Has 2 dogs

Safety, trust & environment

We board 3 dogs at a time so there will be 5 dogs including ours. The dogs stay in our home like our own pets. They are free to go in and out at will. We are mindful of the weather and do not leave the dogs outside in inclement weather. We have AC and fans to keep the dogs safe and cool in summer and heat in the winter. They are toweled off if rained on and protected from each other if necessary. We offer baths, brushing, nail trimming, anal expiration, for an additional fee. Food bowls are cleaned after every meal and water bowls kept clean and fresh inside and outside the house.

Pets

A typical day

We have a large shady back yard with freedom to run, chase squirrels, and play. We have a large shady sandbox where they can dig and lie in the cool sand. Do not walk dogs anymore because too many of them were not mannerly on the leash and they were walking me.
