I work from home with energy medicine. As a morning person, I love starting my day with early morning walks (especially to avoid the Florida heat). Since I have had dogs most of my life, I am used to their routine: letting them out first thing so that they can relieve themselves, morning feeding time, potty breaks and taking breaks to let them play in my large fenced in backyard and then evening walks. If your dog loves long walks, I do too. My neighborhood and house is quiet which means a relaxing atmosphere. If your dog is a senior dog, I can adapt to their needs. They will never be forced to do more than they are able to. Also, I speak Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian.

Safety, trust & environment
I have a large fenced in yard and no pets at the moment so they will have my undivided attention. If your dog likes to spend time in the crate, there is plenty of space for that. I know that keeping to a routine is important and will follow whatever routine you have established for your dog. I am flexible and super attentive.

Information Juana C. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviors that I can account for. If they need medication or special food I will follow your instructions so that when you travel you will be confident that they will be well taken care of. As for breeds or sizes, I really have no preference; I have had small, medium and larger breeds and they all have their special traits. Also, don't let language be a barrier to working with me. Hablo espanol! Falo portugues! Je parle francais! Parlo italiano!
A typical day
Starting out the day with a walk / exercise is important especially for young dogs who are full of energy. Your dog will get the adequate physical and mental stimulation he/she requires. We’ll play fetch or tug of war and he’ll be able to check out all the new smells in the neighborhood. There are a couple of parks nearby we can explore. He'll be able to relax and take naps and sleep on my bed too.

Pets make LIFE worth living!
Pet care experience
I have been around pets my whole life and am intuitively perceptive and can pick up when they need something or when something is off. My first priority is to make sure that you are confident your dog will be in good hands and the most important goal is to make sure your dog is stress free and well cared for while you are away. Whatever your dog's needs are, I can accommodate and will follow your instructions. I know what it is like to be worried with their wellbeing and hoping that everything will go well while we are away. As a child we had dogs, cats, fish, canaries, parakeets, hamsters -- you get the picture! The first family dog we had was a Boxer, Honey. Honey became so strong, my father couldn’t walk her so he rehomed her to a farm. From then on we adopted Poodles both toy, miniature and then standard. In 1987 I went to the SPCA and rescued my first dog: Schatzie, a springer spaniel mix who loved to hunt gofers. Most of my dogs have been rescue. These are the breeds I have had: Poodles, Dachsund, Samoyed, Rottweiler, Blue Tick Hound, Jack Russell Terrier, Black Mouth Cur and Siberian Husky. Most of my dogs have come with emotional issues due to abuse, negligence and trust issues. I have nurtured them slowly and helped them learn to be happy, relaxed dogs. Before dog walking was even a career (1980), I became a dog walker and dog sitter while I was studying in Boston. I cared for a Saint Bernard “Sulki” and a mutt. I still have the letters of recommendation from way back then. Through the years I have also cared for my neighbor's dogs. I love all animals but dogs hold a special place in my heart, especially senior dogs. At the moment I do not have a dog. 5 years ago during the beginning of the lockdown, I decided to volunteer at a rescue foundation called "Compassion Without Borders" in Santa Rosa, CA by fostering dogs and helping train them. My last dog came from Compassion Without Borders. Tino, a Black Mouth Cur, was a foster fail. He came to me when his owner passed away. He was already 8 years old and deeply depressed; he also had neurological issues (his hind legs trembled constantly) which I help minimize. He was with me for 5 years and passed away last year. I have been around puppies, young and senior dogs. I have experience handling and training them as well. I have administered oral medication and also given shots. I have experience delivering insulin as I had a rex rabbit who became diabetic. Having helped all of my dogs reach ripe old ages of 15 1/2, I have a lot of experience with senior dogs and special needs. One of my dogs developed Cushings disease. Some of my dogs developed arthritis and required special massage. I trained in Healing Touch specifically to help my dogs. I can provide extensive exercise if need be with long walks and extended play time in my large fenced in yard. Or I can adapt, by paying attention to what the dog needs.
Reviews

Juana is so good with our dogs and in tune with their needs. When we had some disruption in our pick up, she was so flexible and kind and we love leaving our boys with her!

Juana is fantastic

Juana did so well with Zelda she was a perfect match. They enjoyed each other it seemed and she sent photos each morning and evening! I was an hour and change late to pickup due to flight delays, Juana stayed up so I could get her!! Thank you!!

Juana was great. She took care of my girl like she was her own. I would definitely book with her again!
