just like with little humans, i make sure cleaning supplies, little choking hazards, and toxic foods are stored high in storage closets where my cat can't get into. i vacuum regularly in case i have dropped small pieces of plastic (that my cat loves more than toys for some reason). i will occasionally pet sit for my sister when she is away on vacation. i don't assume i know her pets better than she does, so i have texted her before about a concern i had about her dog. i fed both her pets at the same time, but one refused to eat. instead of assuming that her dog would eventually eat, i reached out to know if there was anything i could do differently and the solution was a change in environment. i would then feed them in separate rooms and that did the trick. i loved sending her pictures of them unprompted and when asked.
