Information about house rules (crating, furniture access, sleeping arrangements) and any training cues or commands they already know is also important. I appreciate knowing emergency contact information, vet details and anything that helps your pet feel safe and happy (favorite toys, treats, or routines) so I can provide consistent, loving care while you’re away.
A typical day
When I care for pets, I focus on keeping them active, engaged, and happy while sticking closely to their normal routines. Activities vary by each pet’s age, energy level, and personality, but often include neighborhood walks, sniff-and-explore time, play sessions with favorite toys, and outdoor time when appropriate. For higher-energy dogs, I love incorporating longer walks, light jogging, fetch, and mentally stimulating games. For calmer pets or seniors, I focus on gentle walks, enrichment toys, cuddles, and quiet companionship. I also enjoy practicing basic commands or reinforcing good manners if owners would like.

I can’t recommend Joyce enough as a pet sitter and dog walker. I have three animals. My dog Kaya and two cats, Bubs and Hazel. She has taken amazing care of all of them multiple times. Kaya absolutely lights up when she sees Joyce, and I swear my cats are obsessed with her. Joyce is reliable, patient, and genuinely loving with animals. She follows instructions perfectly, sends updates without me even asking, and I always feel completely at ease knowing my pets are with her. My animals can be a handful in different ways, and she handles each of them with so much calm and confidence. If you’re looking for someone who treats your pets like her own, Joyce is it.
