(she/her) Bachelors in Animal Science (BS), Master's of Veterinay Medicine (MS), and soon to be DVM student class of 2028. Experience in emergency companion animal medicine, general practice medicine, and exotics (reptiles and pocket pets). Academic Experience: Bachelors of Science - Animal Science Pre-Vet Track - University of Minnesota - 2021 Masters of Science - Veterinary Sciences - - University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine- 2024 Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine - University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine - anticipated class of 2028 I completed my Bachelor's degree in Animal Science at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities and then pursued postgraduate studies at the University's College of Veterinary Medicine. I will earn a Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Research in the spring of 2024. I will then begin a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, clinical veterinarian) program with the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine. Work Experience: Companion Animal General Veterinary Practice - Veterinary Assistant Companion Animal Emergency Veterinary Practice - Veterinary and Triage Assistant Equine Veterinary Medicine - Hospital Staff I've gained valuable experience in hands-on roles in both general practice and emergency small animal settings. As a veterinary and triage assistant, I've had the privilege of contributing to the well-being of beloved pets and applying my knowledge and empathy daily. In my work in emergency medicine, I've seen pet-sitters bring in their clients' pets in critical condition multiple times. Through my academic and work experiences, I've learned to recognize medical emergencies when symptoms are mild, as opposed to waiting until the pet is in critical condition. Additionally, I take utmost care to ensure your pet's safety and health at all times. This is why I don't allow bookings from separate households to overlap, avoid dog parks, and carefully select the toys and items for your pet. Being overly cautious when looking after a pet that isn't your own is my standard. With a strong academic background and practical experience, I'm dedicated to providing the best possible care for animals and ensuring their health and happiness. PM if you are interested or have questions on the many hazards and emergencies that pet-sitters could get wrangled into.
Reviews
Joy did a great job watching my pup Ruby Blue. She provided nice updates and Ruby came back feeling energized and relaxed. She was very professional and provided ample opportunity to express care needs as well as clear expectations on what to expect from her during Ruby's stay. Will definitely use her again when traveling or in need of dog care!
Our dog had a great stay. She was spoiled and loved and we got many updates!
I had Joy stay with 2 cats while on vacation. She was very perceptive and able to offer ideas when things got difficult with my shy, scared cat. She maintained a feeding schedule and used an asthma inhaler on one of my cats. She was easy-going and had a lot of attention to detail.
Joy took great care of our dog. Lots of love and exercise Highly recommended

NOTE: *** Your pet must be able to do a flight of stairs on their own, as I live on the second floor of a duplex **** Ensuring your pet receives the best care possible is my top priority. This includes following your instructions for feeding and watering, making sure your pet stays mentally and physically active, and always respecting their comfort zones. In terms of what daily life would look like for your pet, they would enjoy one to two walks a day, each lasting from a half hour to an hour. Of course, the length and frequency of these walks would depend on your dog's ability to move around and their behavior. Inside, they'd have access to the upstairs area of our home (your pet must be able to do stairs on their own) which includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and three spacious living areas. These spaces are equipped with heating and air conditioning to keep your pet comfortable in any weather. Playtime and affection would be in abundance to keep your pet happy. It's important to note that I won't be taking them to off-leash dog parks, as these places can be risky and lead to injuries. Your pet's safety is my main concern.

NOTE: *** Your pet must be able to do a flight of stairs on their own, as I live on the second floor of a duplex **** Before I start taking care of your pet, there are some important things I would need to know. It would be helpful to understand how your pet behaves- what makes them anxious or upset, and what things might trigger certain reactions from them. I'd also love to know what they enjoy the most and what treats they really like. If your pet has any history of aggression, that must be disclosed. Their medical history is of utmost importance as well. If they're currently on any medications, I'd want to know what those are for and how they should be given. It's also important to have the name of their primary veterinarian and to know which animal clinic you'd go to in case of an emergency. All of this info helps me make sure I'm taking the best care of your pet in a way that's just right for them. To make the gathering of this information easier and more streamlined, I have created a Google Polls survey that I will have owners complete before the booking begins.

Your pet's safety is my main concern. If your pet has lots of extra energy, I can bring them to a fenced-in tennis court or a fenced-in baseball field so they can get their sillies out.

Availability
(she/her) LGBTQIA+ Friendly. Presently, the majority of my academic commitments are conducted in an online format, with the limited in-person classes necessitating a mere 2 to 3 hours of absence at most. Given this flexibility, the seamless incorporation of animal care responsibilities into any segment of my schedule would be possible.
