Your Dog's Second Best Friend!
I was raised in a very pet-friendly family, including multiple family dogs at all times, and am experiencing my first year without creatures of my own in my new apartment. In 2020 and 2021 I began volunteering with a Bay Area Animal Rescue, where I worked adoption events, helped administer vaccinations and microchips, socialized young puppies, and coordinated transport. My senior year of college I took on the task of having a dog full-time in my college town, and had a wonderful experience. After leaving my mini Aussie, Juni, home with my mom in California and making the move to DC for grad school, I'm aching for furry friends! When I first rescued Juni two years ago, she was 4 years old, overweight, and so poorly trained that she did not respond to her name. Since then, she has become the happiest and healthiest version of herself. I have experience leash training, obedience training, recall training, as well as working with reactive dogs. I am a firm believer that you can teach an old dog new tricks :)

Josephine was great with Brooks! She sent updates and he looked very happy and comfy. She was also flexible when my plans changed and I wanted to pick him earlier.
Josie has watched our dogs multiple times, and we can't recommend her enough. She's incredibly responsible and trustworthy. She's the kind of sitter you don't have to worry about while you're away. She genuinely loves animals more than anyone we know, and it shows in how attentive and patient she is. One of our dogs has severe anxiety, and Josie has been wonderful with her. She's calm, gentle, and careful not to push her past her comfort zone. She takes the time to understand each dog's individual needs. We trust her completely with our pets and would recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter.
Josie is very responsible and I trust her with all of my pets, even those with special needs. Animals love her and I give her my highest recommendation.

Schedule
Im currently a masters student, with class in the mornings (8am-12pm) on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. I'm available to be home or out walking on weekday afternoons and weekends!

Safety, trust & environment
I live alone in a studio apartment, and am confident I have enough space to host your pet. I live very close to multiple parks, including a 15-min walk to Shaw dog park. I am an early riser and love a good morning walk, as well as an afternoon adventure and a quick outing before bedtime. I am happy to use a crate overnight/when I am out of the house, but always prefer to let pets have free roaming abilities, and don't mind them cuddling up on the couch.
