Pet care experience

Wildlife worker who loves dogs

I’ve been caring for animals most of my life. I grew up with my family dog, Sally, an energetic and intelligent collie/German shepherd rescue who I helped care for from age 5 until 17. Growing up with such a high energy dog taught me a lot about exercise needs, mental enrichment, and reading dog behaviour. Since then, I’ve regularly dog and cat sat for friends and family, caring for pets with different personalities and routines. I’m comfortable with high energy dogs, shy pets, and sticking to established schedules for feeding, walks, enrichment, and medication if needed. Alongside this, I work in nature conservation primarily from home, but with projects across London, working with animals ranging from snails to beavers, and have volunteered abroad with wildlife from iguanas to whales. This background means I’m very comfortable around animals, attentive to behaviour and welfare, and patient with nervous or senior pets. I’m happy providing long walks, play and enrichment for active dogs, calm companionship for older pets, and reliable daily care to keep your pet safe, happy, and relaxed while you’re away.

Safety, trust & environment

Your pet’s safety, comfort and routine are always my top priorities. I take time to understand each pet’s normal habits, preferences, and any specific instructions so I can keep their routine as consistent and stress free as possible. In a pet owner’s home, I aim to create a calm and familiar environment by sticking closely to their usual schedule for walks, feeding, play, and rest. I’m attentive to behaviour and wellbeing, and I’ll always make sure pets have plenty of exercise, enrichment, and companionship while you’re away. I’m also happy to provide updates and photos so you can feel confident your pet is happy and well cared for. With my background working with animals in nature conservation, I’m very used to observing animal behaviour and making sure animals feel safe and comfortable. I’m patient with nervous pets and attentive to safety on walks. Above all, I treat every pet with the same care and respect I would give my own.

Joseph and his partner looked after Dom and were brilliant from start to finish. Communication beforehand was clear and reassuring, which made everything feel easy to organise. While Dom was with them, they sent daily updates which I really appreciated, it was nice knowing he was settled and being well cared for. They were warm, reliable, and clearly good with dogs. I’d definitely use them again and would happily recommend them to others.

Joseph looked after my dog Stella, Stella can be reactive to other dogs which can make using Rover a bit stressful but Joseph spent time to ask questions about her and gave amazing updates whilst looking after her accompanied by good photos and questions about things I had failed to mention! Highly recommend Joseph for a friendly and reliable sitter/walker! Thank you

Schedule

I work remotely as a part-time Press and Communications Manager for a nature conservation organisation and set my own hours, which gives me a flexible schedule for pet care. I naturally build walks into my day even without a dog. I usually go for a walk in the morning and again on lunch in the green spaces near my home in SE23, such as the Horniman Gardens and Mayow Park. Having a dog to join me would fit perfectly into this routine. Because I work from home/remotely, I’m able to provide plenty of attention, regular walks and consistent care throughout the day rather than leaving pets alone for long periods. I’m also happy to adapt my schedule to suit a dog’s usual routine for walks, feeding, play and rest.
