Pet care experience

WFH dog love and care! 🐶❤️

I’ve been pet sitting through Rover since 2015 and have extensive experience caring for dogs of all ages, personalities, and medical needs. I’ve also volunteered and fostered with Wonder Dog Rescue, Grateful Dogs Rescue, and the SF/SPCA, including as a dog walker at the SF/SPCA. My experience includes senior dogs, dogs with medical needs, and dogs recovering from trauma, abuse, or neglect. Rescue work is especially meaningful to me, and I’m committed to providing a calm, safe, and loving environment for every dog in my care. I work a hybrid schedule from home, which allows me to give each dog plenty of attention throughout the day. To ensure every dog gets the care they deserve, I only host one family’s dog(s) at a time. Our home is in Daly City, just minutes from San Francisco and about 15 minutes from SFO, making drop-offs and pickups convenient for travelers. Our children are growing up around dogs and are gentle, respectful, and comfortable with dogs of all sizes and temperaments. We do our best to make every dog feel like part of the family while they’re with us.

I was recommended Josefina as a knowledgeable and experienced dog sitter, and after meeting her, I could see right away how much she and her family truly love animals. It is such a relief to be able to leave Oscar knowing he is in such capable and caring hands. He received so much love and attention that it was like his own little vacation! I can definitely recommend Josefina to anyone looking for a great sitter.

Josefina was great taking care of Minnie. She made sure she had all the info she needed on Minnie’s normal routine. She was very communicative throughout the day sending updates on how Minnie was doing. Would definitely have Minnie stay with her again!

I had the pleasure of leaving my dog in Josefina’s care twice. She has a wonderful family, and her kids are absolutely lovely. From the moment I met them, I felt completely at ease knowing my dog would be in such great hands. I had peace of mind throughout the entire time, confident that my dog was not only being well cared for but also enjoying the love and attention of a truly kind and caring family. I highly recommend Josefina and her family for anyone looking for trustworthy and compassionate pet care.

Josefina was fabulous and my Charlie loved staying with her family for an extended 11 days. She was very loving and thorough in following directions for my sensitive, attention-loving pup. She kept me updated on how he was doing each day and sent pics showing a happy, active pup. I would definitely trust Josefina to stay with Charlie again!

Schedule

I recommend scheduling a meet and greet for all first-time boarding clients. We can meet either in person or virtually—whatever is most convenient for you. This gives us a chance to get to know each other, discuss your dog’s routine and needs, and help ensure a comfortable stay. Drop-off and pick-up times are generally flexible, and I’ll do my best to accommodate your schedule. If you need a very late drop-off or pick-up, we may need to arrange an alternate time or schedule it for the following day. Dogs receive frequent potty breaks throughout the day, along with supervised access to our secure backyard. On rare occasions, potty breaks may be spaced up to 2–4 hours apart, but I make every effort to keep those instances to a minimum. Weekend schedules may vary slightly, but your dog will continue to receive regular potty breaks, plenty of attention, and loving care throughout their stay.

Safety, trust & environment

The safety and well-being of everyone in our home—including your dog—is my top priority. We have two children, ages 8 and 10, so I only accept dogs that are a good fit for a family setting. I’m unable to accept dogs with aggression, a bite history, significant reactivity, or discomfort around children. I’m also not the best fit for young puppies or very high-energy dogs that need constant supervision or extensive exercise. Dogs that bark excessively or are highly jumpy may also find our home stressful. Our home is lively, with active children and normal family and neighborhood noise. If your dog prefers a very quiet environment or is easily stressed by activity, we may not be the right fit. I prefer crate-trained dogs and have both a small and medium crate available. Crates may be used at bedtime or briefly when I’m away to help maintain a calm, safe routine. You’re welcome to bring your dog’s crate or bed, and I have additional pet supplies if needed. For dogs with mild separation anxiety, a familiar crate and consistent routine can help them feel secure. If you’re unsure whether we’re a good fit, I’m happy to schedule a meet and greet or trial stay before a longer boarding. My goal is for every dog to feel safe, comfortable, and loved while they’re with us.

A typical day

Your dog will enjoy a balance of walks, playtime, relaxation, and plenty of one-on-one attention throughout the day. Whether we’re taking neighborhood walks, playing in the backyard, or lounging together in my home office, your dog will be treated like part of the family. I provide individualized care, lots of TLC, and a calm, loving environment where dogs can enjoy companionship, sunshine, and regular outdoor time with direct access to our secure backyard. My goal is for every dog to feel safe, comfortable, and right at home during their stay.

To help provide the safest and most comfortable stay possible, I appreciate learning as much as I can about your dog before their visit. Open communication helps ensure we’re a great match. Please let me know about: * Any history of aggression, reactivity, or discomfort around strangers or children. * Your dog’s current personality, energy level, and any recent behavioral changes. * How your dog typically adjusts when staying in someone else’s home. * Their feeding schedule, diet, treats, and daily routine. * Any allergies, sensitivities, or things they should avoid. * Medical conditions or health concerns I should be aware of. * Any medications, along with dosing instructions. * Where your dog normally sleeps at home. * Whether your dog is crate trained. If not, are they able to sleep on a dog bed through the night without pacing or becoming distressed? * Your dog’s experience with children and how they typically interact with them. * Whether your dog experiences separation anxiety, and if so, what that looks like and what helps them feel comfortable. I truly appreciate honesty and transparency. The more I know about your dog, the better I can provide a safe, loving, and stress-free experience for everyone.
