What sets me apart is that I genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs and I understand that every dog has their own personality and needs. I have experience caring for both playful puppies and senior dogs, so I’m comfortable adjusting my approach depending on their age, energy level, and routine. I’m patient, reliable, and always make sure dogs feel comfortable, safe, and cared for while their owners are away. I treat every dog like they’re my own and want them to have a fun and stress-free time with me. One of the biggest reasons I feel confident caring for dogs is because I rescued an 11-year-old Pug and gave him the best life I possibly could. Taking care of him taught me so much about senior dogs and their needs, including being patient with their routines, mobility, comfort, and individual personalities. I also regularly take care of my uncle’s 2-year-old dog, so I’m used to the completely different energy and needs of a younger dog. I’ve also had several friends ask me to dog sit because they know how comfortable I am around dogs and how well I take care of them. Honestly, that’s what gave me the idea to sign up for Rover. I already love taking care of dogs, and I’d love the opportunity to do it for more families.

Jose is an incredibly loving and responsible pet caregiver! He is familiar with different types of breeds and needs for each pet. His love for pets grew tremendously after he adopted a senior pug and gave him the most loving home. He understands the importance of providing a loving time and making sure pets are sticking to their schedule, safe and well taken care of. Highly recommend!
Few people have the enthusiasm and affection towards dogs that Jose has. Our goldendoodle absolutely adores him! He genuinely cares for her and makes sure that she is very well taken care of at all times.
I’ve known Jose for years and seen firsthand how patient and loving he is with animals. His own pets are always treated like family! What stands out to me is how attentive he is to their needs. Schedule
Since I work from home, taking care of a pet fits very naturally into my daily routine. My schedule is also pretty flexible, and most of my meetings can be moved around if needed. If a dog needs to go outside, wants some attention, or just needs a little break during the day, I’m able to step away and take care of them. I’m also often in longer meetings where I’m on mute for a good portion of the time, so I can still have them beside me, play with them, or give them some attention and cuddles while I work. I like having that flexibility because I don’t want a pet to feel like they’re being left alone all day. I’d be able to give them plenty of attention throughout the day, as well as make time for walks, playtime, and care before. during and after work.

I try to make pets feel as comfortable and at home as possible, while keeping their normal routine as close to what they are used to. Before taking care of a pet, I like to learn about their personality, feeding schedule, walking routine, favorite activities, and anything they may be nervous or particular about. Every dog is different, so I think it’s important to follow what works best for them rather than treating every pet the same. Since I work from home, I’m able to give pets a lot of attention throughout the day. I can take them out for walks or potty breaks, play with them, give them plenty of affection, and make sure they always have fresh water and are comfortable. If they want to relax beside me while I work, I’m more than happy to have them there. I also understand how important it is for owners to know how their pet is doing while they’re away. I’m happy to send regular photos and updates so you know they’re safe, happy, and getting plenty of attention. Most importantly, I treat every pet in my care like they are my own and make their safety and well-being my priority.
A typical day
I love making sure every pet I watch gets plenty of fun and attention throughout the day. One of the best parts of where I live is that I have 4–5 different parks within about a 2-minute walk, so there are always new places to explore and plenty of options depending on the dog’s energy level and personality. I also live just a few minutes from Spencer Smith Park, where there are lots of open spaces and beautiful areas for walks, playing fetch, exploring, or simply relaxing together. For a high-energy dog, I’m happy to make our time more active with longer walks, games of fetch, exploring different trails and parks, and plenty of playtime. For a senior dog or a dog that prefers a slower pace, we can enjoy shorter relaxed walks, sniffing and exploring at their own speed, spending time outside, or simply finding a comfortable spot to sit and enjoy the surroundings. I also enjoy keeping dogs mentally engaged with things like basic training games, treats, puzzle toys, practicing commands they already know, and plenty of one-on-one attention. Sometimes the best activity is simply sitting together, getting some fresh air, and giving them companionship. Most importantly, I’ll adapt the experience to the individual dog. Whether they want to run around and play, explore every corner of the park, or just relax beside me, I want them to feel comfortable, happy, and cared for while they’re with me.

Things like their usual feeding and walking schedule, energy level, favourite activities or toys, how they behave around other dogs or people, and anything that makes them feel nervous or uncomfortable are all helpful for me to know. I’d also like to know about any important commands they respond to, their bathroom routine, and any special instructions I should follow while caring for them. Most importantly, please let me know anything you think would help me make your pet feel safe, comfortable, and at home. I’m happy to follow their normal routine as closely as possible rather than expecting them to adjust to mine. My goal is for your pet to have a fun, comfortable experience while giving you peace of mind knowing they’re being cared for the way you would care for them.
