Caring for Pets Like My Own
Every dog has their own personality, and I believe the best care starts with understanding that. Some dogs want to play all day, some need patience and time to trust you, and others are happiest just having someone calmly by their side. I always take the time to learn what makes each pet feel safe and comfortable. My experience with animals started helping rescue dogs in South America, including dogs that were scared, shy, or came from difficult situations. It taught me patience and how important it is to let an animal trust you at their own pace. I’m comfortable with dogs of all sizes and personalities, as well as cats. Whether your pet is energetic, shy, cuddly, independent, or a little nervous with new people, I’ll care for them based on what they need and make sure they feel safe, happy, and cared for while you’re away.

Schedule
Pet care has always been a big part of my daily routine. I care for my own pets every day, so I’m very used to planning my schedule around feeding times, walks, playtime and making sure they get the attention they need. I have a flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to the pets in my care. I understand how important consistency is, so I’m happy to follow your pet’s normal routine, including their usual walk times, feeding schedule and any specific instructions you have. I want them to feel as comfortable as possible even when you’re away.

I know how much trust it takes to leave your pet and your home in someone else’s care. I take that responsibility seriously. I always follow the routine and instructions you give me because I want your pet to feel as comfortable and normal as possible while you’re away. I pay close attention to feeding times, walks, medications if needed, playtime and the little things that are specific to your pet. I’m also respectful of your home and will always leave it the way I found it. I’m happy to send pictures and updates so you can feel comfortable knowing your pet is safe and being well cared for. I care for every pet with the same patience and attention I would want someone to give my own.

A typical day
A typical day depends on your pet and what they enjoy. For an active dog, that might mean a good walk, time at the park, playing and getting plenty of exercise. For an older or more relaxed dog, I’m just as happy taking a slower walk and spending time with them at home. I want them to have a good day and get the attention they’re used to while their owner is busy or away. I’m always learning more about pet health, behavior and different ways to keep animals active and mentally stimulated. As a new friend in your pet’s life, and with your permission, I’d be happy to introduce them to new games, activities or ways to play that they may enjoy. I’ll always respect your boundaries and what you know is best for your pet. With cats, I follow their personality too. Some love to play and interact, while others need more time and space. I’ll take the time to learn what makes your pet happy and comfortable. I’d love the opportunity to meet you and your pet and hopefully become someone they’re excited to see again. - I’d like to know your pet’s routine, feeding schedule, medications, allergies and any health needs before our time together. It’s especially important for me to know how they behave around other dogs, cats, children and strangers, as well as any fears, triggers, resource guarding, separation anxiety, reactivity or history of trying to escape. None of these things automatically prevent me from caring for your pet. I would much rather know ahead of time so I can understand them and keep them safe. I also want to know the little things that make your pet themselves. Their favorite toys, what makes them excited, what helps them calm down and anything else you think will help me get to know them. The more I know about your pet, the better I can make our time together safe, comfortable and enjoyable.
