Hey, I’m Jono 👋 I’m originally from New Zealand and grew up with Afghans and Briards, so dogs have always been part of my life. Now I live in Columbia Heights with my partner Ryan, our Cocker Spaniel Robbie, and our English Setter Daphne. We’ve got a big fenced garden front and back, and that’s where I spend a lot of my time — planting, pottering around, and hanging out with the dogs. It’s safe, calm, and there’s plenty of space for visiting pups to sniff, run, or just nap in the sun. If you’re looking for a cozy, low-stress spot for your dog while you’re away, we’d love to host. I like to think of it as a little garden vacation for them, right here in the city. 🌿🐾

Jono took care of my blind senior dog Stevie for 2 weeks, and she couldn’t have been in better hands. Given her age and health she gets anxious in new spaces, but Jono was incredibly attuned to her needs. He quickly figured out her (many) quirks and sent regular photos/updates. It was so reassuring to see her so happy and at ease at the end of her stay! I 100% will leave her with him again.
Jono was absolutely phenomenal! My golden retriever absolutely adored him and his pups. Jono was so easy to communicate with, flexible, and made Edie’s day great! She came back exhausted and so loved on.
Maple had such a wonderful time during daycare with Jono! I loved the pictures and videos he shared, and she always came home tired. Drop offs and pick ups were easy. I’d definitely trust Jono with my dog again.
Jono is one of the best sitters I could ask for. Communicative, flexible when my schedule changed and could tell my dog was extremely well cared for. Truly the best!
Jono has been so caring and communicative every time I've left my senior shih Tzu with him. My dog has higher needs (medication and frequent potty breaks) and Jono has been very attentive to that! I also love he has a yard so my dog doesn't have to walk far to go potty. Would definitely recommend to anyone with senior dogs that need TLC
Jono was amazing with Moose! Moose is shy with people, but warmed up to Jono right away, he has such a good understanding of dogs! Moose was so excited to go everyday and loved playing with Robbie and Daphne. Will be using him again!

Schedule
I work full-time from home, so your pup will always have plenty of company and care throughout the day. My partner, Ryan, is also home-based, so there’s always a warm lap too. We have a lovely garden and keep the door open for the dogs to come in and out as they please. When it's sunny, there’s no better spot than our south-facing deck—the dogs love sunbathing, and so do I!

My property is fully fenced in both the front and back for added security. For extra peace of mind, all dogs staying with me are walked on a double leash to ensure their safety at all times. Just in case :)

A typical day
Our mornings always follow the same peaceful rhythm. I’m an early riser and head out on our first walk at 6 am. Afterward, we relax in the garden while I enjoy a cup of coffee (and get mad at the news). I’m also lucky to live near Meridian Hill Park, which is a favorite spot for my dogs to explore.
