Safety, trust & environment
When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on making them feel safe, loved, and comfortable in their familiar environment. I understand that every animal has a unique personality—some prefer quiet companionship from a distance, while others seek affection and love to be right by your side. Some pets need lots of playtime to burn off energy, and I’m always happy to engage with them in the way that suits them best. My care routine includes feeding according to their schedule (including special diets, if needed), making sure they always have fresh water, cleaning litter boxes, taking dogs out for bathroom breaks and walks, and of course, picking up after them. I also make sure they get plenty of playtime, affection, and attention. If medications are part of their care, I’ll administer those as directed. I’m also available for overnight stays, which can be especially helpful for pets who need a little extra comfort or consistency while you’re away. If your pet needs to go out in the middle of the night or needs attention during those hours, I’m happy to be there to help. I know how important it is to maintain their routine and ensure they feel safe and cared for at all times. Ultimately, my goal is to make your pet feel as loved and secure as they do when you’re home.
Information Joni W. would like to know about your pet
Before watching a pet, I like to make sure I have all the important information to provide the best care possible. Here are some of the key things I like to know ahead of time: Emergency Info: • Preferred veterinarian in case of an emergency • How to reach you quickly if something comes up Feeding & Health: • Feeding schedule and any special dietary needs • Any medications your pet takes—how and when to administer them (oral, topical, etc.) (I haven’t given injections before, but I’d be willing to learn with proper guidance.) Temperament & Behavior: • General personality: Are they shy, social, or somewhere in between? • How they respond to petting or affection—do they enjoy being touched, or prefer space? • Any quirks (e.g. jumping, licking, chasing squirrels, etc.) • How they interact with other pets and people Exercise & Routine: • Do you want them to be walked? If so, how often and where do they usually go? • How often they need bathroom breaks or litter box cleanings • Favorite activities, toys, or games House Rules: • Are there areas in the home that are off-limits? • Any routines or boundaries I should reinforce? Having these details upfront really helps me provide care that’s consistent with your pet’s usual routine and keeps them happy and comfortable while you’re away.
A typical day
When I watch pets, I make it a priority to ensure they feel loved, well-cared for, and emotionally stimulated. I know how important it is for them to get exercise and attention, so I tailor activities to each pet’s personality and needs. For dogs, that often means walks, playtime in the backyard, or a visit to the dog park so they can run around and burn off energy. For cats, I make sure they get affection if they want it—whether that’s sitting on my lap while I watch TV or playing with their favorite toys. I also stay on top of the basics like fresh food and water, clean litter boxes, or regular bathroom breaks. I understand that some pets do better with more frequent visits, so I’m always happy to stop by multiple times a day if needed.

Pet care experience
I’m an experienced and caring pet lover who’s had both cats and dogs throughout the years. Friends often trust me to care for their pets when they’re away, so I’ve had lots of hands-on experience with a variety of breeds and personalities. While I’ve mostly been a cat owner, I genuinely love dogs too—and I’m comfortable with everything from playful puppies and kittens to senior pets who need a gentler touch. I recently said goodbye to my own beloved 14-year-old cat, and while I’m not quite ready for another pet of my own, I’d be honored to care for yours like they were part of my family. I’m also experienced with giving medications to both cats and dogs, and I always prioritize making pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away.

Joni has been the best for our pup! Our dog loves all of the time spent with Joni. She has always been professional and communicative and has become our go to for watching our dog!!

Booked Joni last minute over a holiday weekend and everything went great. She was punctual and followed all instructions. Would highly recommend and will be booking again.

Joni was great for house sitting. Very professional, very communicative, and a joy to have with our dog.

Joni once again was great to my kitties. She's a fantastic pet sitter and I whole-heartedly recommend her.
