I work from home, so pet care fits very naturally into my day. I’m able to keep a consistent eye on your dog, maintain their routine, and give them attention throughout the day — whether that’s playtime, walks, or quiet company. I like to take short breaks outside, so dogs get plenty of fresh air and movement without long stretches of alone time. It’s a calm environment here, which most pups settle into easily.

Safety, trust & environment

I’m very intentional about creating a safe and calm environment. I keep a close eye on each dog’s energy, comfort level, and needs throughout the day. In my home (or yours), I stick to the routines you already have in place — feeding times, walk schedules, crate use, and any training cues you use — so your dog feels secure and understood. I always use secure leashes/harnesses on walks, avoid dog parks unless you specifically request them, and pay attention to surroundings to keep your dog safe. Indoors, I make sure they have a clean, comfy space to relax, fresh water available, and plenty of gentle engagement. My approach is simple: calm structure, lots of presence, and consistent care so your dog feels safe, comfortable, and cared for the entire time.

Information Jonathan Y. would like to know about your pet

To make sure your dog has the best, safest, and most comfortable stay, I like to know a few key things in advance: 1) Your dog’s daily routine, feeding schedule, and any food sensitivities or allergies 2) Energy level, walking preferences, and any physical limitations or health concerns 3) How your dog does with other dogs, especially in a calm home environment 4) Any behavioral quirks (barking, separation anxiety, reactivity, leash pulling, etc.) 5) Potty habits and whether your dog is fully house-trained 6) What helps your dog feel calm and secure in a new space 7) Veterinary info and emergency contact details, just in case I genuinely believe that the more I know upfront, the better I can care for your dog. My goal is always to match their routine as closely as possible so they feel safe, relaxed, and at home from day one.

A typical day

A typical day with me is structured, calm, and active, designed to keep dogs happy, exercised, and relaxed. The day starts with a morning hour-long walk, giving dogs time to stretch, explore, and burn off energy. After breakfast, they relax at home with me while I work remotely, so they’re never left alone for long. Around midday, we head out for a second hour-long walk, tailored to each dog’s energy level. This might be a neighborhood walk, park time, or a beach outing if appropriate. The afternoon is slower and restful, with plenty of downtime, fresh water, and comfortable places to nap. In the evening, dogs enjoy a third hour-long walk to wind down the day before dinner and bedtime. Total daily activity usually ranges between 4–7 miles, adjusted for age, health, and temperament. Throughout the day, dogs get lots of affection, calm companionship, and a peaceful environment - helped by clean indoor air and a relaxed home routine. My own dog, Poppy, is a gentle, friendly 14-year-old who helps create a calm, reassuring atmosphere.

Pet care experience

Welcome to Poppy’s Friends! 🐾 Hi, I’m Jonathan, and I provide full-time, professional dog care through Rover. Caring for dogs isn’t a side job for me. It’s my career and my passion. My days are built around giving every dog in my care the attention, exercise, enrichment, and love they deserve. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of caring for well over 100 dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and personalities. Every dog is different, so I tailor each stay to their individual needs, energy level, and routine. Whether your pup loves long adventures or prefers a slower pace, they’ll receive personalized care from the moment they arrive. Daily Exercise & Enrichment At my standard rate, dogs enjoy three separate hour-long walks every day: • Morning • Midday • Evening Most dogs average 4 to 7 miles of walking each day, adjusted for their age, health, and comfort level. When the weather is nice and your dog enjoys adventures, we often head to the beach for supervised walks, plenty of sniffing, and safe play. Mental enrichment is just as important as physical exercise, and I make sure every dog has opportunities to explore and have fun. Because I do Rover full time, your dog is rarely left alone. They’re part of my daily routine and receive consistent attention, companionship, and care throughout the day. Nutrition & Wellness Canine nutrition has become one of my greatest passions. Through my company, Poppy’s Friends, I create fresh homemade meals, healthy treats, and wellness toppers using thoughtfully selected whole-food ingredients that support digestion, healthy joints, skin, coat, and overall wellness. Some of the ingredients I regularly work with include beef, bone broth, turmeric, chia seeds, pumpkin, kale, spinach, broccoli, carrots, coconut oil, collagen, and other nutrient-rich whole foods. I’m proud to collaborate with respected professionals and trusted brands in the canine nutrition community so I can continue learning and provide the highest level of care possible. If your dog has medications, allergies, or a specific feeding routine, I’ll happily follow your instructions exactly. A Safe & Comfortable Home Your dog’s safety and comfort always come first. My home is calm, clean, and designed to help dogs feel relaxed and secure. Fresh water is always available, and I closely supervise every dog throughout the day. To create an even healthier environment, my home is equipped with a professional-grade Molekule air purifier that helps reduce allergens, bacteria, and airborne pollutants. For additional peace of mind, every dog in my care is fitted with one of my own Apple AirTags during their stay, giving me another layer of safety whenever we’re out on walks or adventures. Meet Poppy Your dog will also spend time with my best friend, Poppy. At 14 years old, she’s incredibly gentle, patient, and wonderfully social. She has helped countless visiting dogs settle into a new environment and has a special way of making nervous pups feel comfortable and at home. Why Families Choose Me ✔ Full-time Rover professional ✔ Personalized care for every dog ✔ Three long walks every day ✔ Beach adventures when appropriate ✔ Fresh nutrition and wellness knowledge ✔ Calm, clean home environment ✔ Professional air purification ✔ Apple AirTag safety during every stay ✔ Daily updates, photos, and open communication I know how much trust it takes to leave your dog with someone else. My goal is to make that decision easy by providing the same level of care, attention, and love that I would want for my own dog. I can’t wait to meet you and your best friend 🙋🏻‍♂️.

Jonathan treated my girl with such care! I truly appreciate that he got a few long walks in each day, gave her cuddles and made her comfortable in his home. Every picture showed how much fun she was having. Jonathan made homemade treats she could enjoy with her allergies and made sure to check in with me for any questions. While she was happy to see me for pick up, she also showed clear affection for Jonathan which assured me he took great care of my baby. I highly recommend leaving your pup in his hands.

This was the first week I left Hoot with someone I didn’t know. Jonathan immediately put me at ease and sent pictures and videos of Hoot’s daily adventures with his new friends. He gave Hoot multiple long walks a day and delicious, nutritious treats. It’s clear he loves animals and is a wonderful caretaker.
