I always care for pets with the same attention and responsibility as if they were my own. When looking after a dog in the owner’s home or taking them out for walks, I follow their usual routine as closely as possible, including feeding times, walk schedules, and any specific instructions provided. I make sure the dog feels comfortable and secure, especially in a familiar environment, and I take time to build trust and understand their personality. I have experience handling a variety of dogs through volunteering at Mount Noddy RSPCA, where I regularly walked multiple dogs with different temperaments and energy levels. This has taught me how to stay calm, alert, and in control in different situations, whether a dog is energetic, nervous, or reactive. Safety is always my top priority. I ensure leads, harnesses, and gates are secure, and I’m careful during walks to avoid unsafe situations. I also pay attention to the dog’s behaviour and wellbeing throughout, making sure they are happy, hydrated, and not overexerted. Because I’ve grown up around dogs and have supported puppy care through family volunteering with Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, I’m also confident helping with basic training reinforcement, socialisation, and gentle handling of puppies. Overall, I aim to provide a calm, reliable, and caring presence so both pets and owners feel completely at ease.
