For the last couple of years, she has worked as a volunteer at three different locations: a horse therapy farm, a dog shelter, and a sanctuary farm that houses approximately 200 animals. In addition to her volunteer work, HK has owned her Pomeranian for 13 years. She handles every aspect of the care of this dog, including bathing, walking, and feeding. She is also very attentive—if she notices any strange behavior in Sophia, she immediately takes her to the vet to ensure she is healthy. Howard is kind, intelligent, dedicated and gentle but able to handle large stubborn animals. Howard has worked in an equine therapy environment, the Humane Society and animal sanctuary. Given this, the animal range in sizes from guinea pigs to horses and 1000+ pound pigs and everything in between. The animals are genuinely happy with the time they spend together. Howard gained the full trust of the sanctuary owner and leader enough to name him as sponsor of his favorite goat at the sanctuary. The reciprocated enjoyment is evidenced in the framed artwork Howard created for the sanctuary owner depicting the sanctuary and likenesses of pigs, goats, dogs, et al. Howard grew up with the normal critters: hamsters, parakeets, fish, snail, rats, an energetic Pomerania and even takes care of the neighborhood outdoor cats. You would be hard pressed to find a better person to be around your animal(s).
