Pet care experience

Only take 1 dog at a time, so we can all enjoy it!

I’ve had dogs and cats for most of my childhood and adult life and only stopped after my 11 year old Newfoundland (one in the picture) died in 2019. My little ones are a bit older now (5 & 3) and although we don’t yet want the commitment of a new dog, it would be great for me and them to look after one or maybe two from same home for a few days at a time. I work from home, so will be in to look after the dog all day, and we are close to the Frome valley walkway and Frenchay common for walks and also have a large back garden with grass and fenced all the way around.

I can highly recommend John as a pet carer. He was a loving owner of his late beloved Newfoundland who escorted him on holidays all over Europe and he also frequently looks after my little dachshund when I am away. A very responsible pet loving family.

Schedule

As per description, I work from home. Only think we ask is for dog to be good with children. The children are very well behaved and love dogs so we don’t want to affect that.

Safety, trust & environment

As above, fenced in yard. Will be able to go all around downstairs (not upstairs but we have gate) in day. We will keep in Kitchen at night as it has a stone floor so any accidents can be easily cleaned. In winter we will give access to garden as much as needed (via patio door or back door), but in summer doors will be open all day for them to have access.

A typical day

Usually will take them on at least 2 30 minute walks a day usually at lunch time and early evening. I also like to run so if they can run a bit happy to take them out with me. It’s all cycle paths so very safe for them. On the weekend we will usually go for a longer walk down to the woods and the pub at the end loves dogs so will usually stop in there

I need to know the dog has been around children and is happy with them. Also any special dietary needs, as the kids may try and give him tit bits and need to know if okay with that.
